Las Vegas Review

We just came back (2/15-2/18) from Vegas; been there 3 times before. Liked Vegas very much before, but we will never go back again! Be warned. This city has become a horrible place where only mindless greed, ugliness, and out and out fleecing of visitors now exist.

It used to be reasonably good slot machine gambling town.Though one never won much, they paid enough so that you could stretch your gambling budget till you left. Not any more! They have made payouts so horrendously bad; your money goes out so fast, you won't believe it. Their machines are noe far, far worse than local casino machines (for example, Kansas City where we live). They have also put in machines that make you put in such big amounts (i.e. $3 per spin on penny machines!) Casinos also used to give you good coupon books with good discounts on many things, various trinket gifts, and cheap foods....they are all gone! They also charge extra on top of stated room rates (we paid $7.50 per day as "resort fee" for using their fitness center and pool, which unfortunately were closed!) Hotel merchandise prices are horrible....$3.75 for a can of coke, etc. They also have a cruel joke with something called "free slot machine money" for accumulating so many points as a new customer. Unfortunately, you can not get the money. You have to play machines using this "free money" to get whatever machines pay you as winnings, which is the only money you can keep. With the horrible payout, you end up spending a huge amount of money to accumulate any so-called "winings" to take out. So, forget this cruel joke.

The city has also become very ugly. There are so many huge high rises that now block the sky, you can hardly see anything. Most of these buildings are now nothing but half-finished skeletons; we did not see any constructions activities in any of them while we were there. It is a depressing place. Prices are sky high everywhere, and traffic is horrible.

Do not go, unless you want to be ripped off! If you go, go visit state parks. We went to Red Rock Canyon Park, which was fantastic. Go see shows (Le Reve at Wynn was quite good). Eat good foods, though most are very highly priced. Otherwise, save your money and go to local casinos if you want to gamble, and go visit other far better places. Vegas now truly sucks.
