Do unto others as they did to you. The movie is somewhat charming and corny at the same time. The movie has a group of friends and family that ridicule Lars for being too self-absorbed and not spending more time with others.To "get even" with them,Lars in turn buys a life-size plastic doll which he carts around everywhere he goes,ie ,restaurants,church, famiy gatherings,etc. He makes everyone interact with her to the point of ridiculousness,yet he does make a point. Lars uses the plastic imported doll as an interim "blankie" until he is ready to befriend a human person. The movie reveals that Lars,sadly,never knew the love and nurture of a mother figure. In the end Lars puts away his doll and begins dating,happily.
Funny story with a message.
