When I was a first-time parent I thought all nursing pads were the same. Why pay more for a piece of material that was just going to soak up some moisture and be tossed away afterward? I was constantly trying out different brands of pads and would become extremely frustrated whenever they failed my expectations. There were even some brands where I couldn't tell which side was which and other brands were just too uncomfortable that they irritated my skin. Plus how could a flat pad fit my breast and effectively catch any expressed milk? I thought I'd just have to deal with inadequate protection, but then I received a free sample of Lansinoh's Disposable Nursing Pads in the mail and was happily surprised by the results.
The individual packaging is neat and different from any other brand I'd tried. Sure, to the environmentally concerned it would seem like a waste of materials, but with other brands I always ran the risk of the pads being wasted because of absorbing any moisture they came in contact with. But the packaging for these makes it very convenient to just toss a couple into my bag on the way out, knowing that I won't need to worry about them getting damaged or dirty before using them.
These easy-to-use nursing pads are also contoured for a close and comfortable fit that isn't noticeable while tucked inside my bra. The pads don't bunch up and stay in place thanks to the adhesive backing on each one. With other pads I would wake up with a damp bed because the pads had shifted while I slept. And the stay-dry lining works, keeping my skin dry by drawing the milk into the core of the pad.
Now this is one of the more expensive brands and I am normally a bargain shopper, but sometimes you just have to fork out the big bucks in order to get a quality product that satisfies your needs. In the long run, picking up a box from Walmart for a little over 8 dollars saved me money because I wasn't constantly washing my entire wardrobe every day due to embarrassing leaks. One 60 count box lasts almost a month for me and I was (and still am) a heavy leaker. I would especially recommend this particular brand for those who express moderate or heavier amounts of milk.
