Lancome Juicy Tube In All Her Splendor — 

One thing I love for the holidays is metallic lush rich red lipstick.  It is very hard to find a color that will look rich and festive, yet not make my lips peel or look dry.  In fact, it is VERY difficult to find a truly metallic rich red holiday lip product that I like. 

When I was walking by the Lancome display last weekend, I happened to spy something that I normally do not look at- a JUICY TUBE.

Some time ago, I had to stop wearing Juicy Tubes because the smell of them made me extremely nauseous and I could not wear them.  I used to wear them years ago, but made the break with almost all Lancome lip products due to fragrance issues and how they made my lips peel excessively.


WHAT IS IN ALL HER SPLENDOR LIKE?

When I saw this Juicy Tube, it stopped me in my tracks.  The tube is black on both ends, with a see-through middle and inside the tube is a mezmerizing marbelized looking red metallic liquid which I just HAD to try on.

I quickly put a swatch on my hand, and almost screamed out loud I was so excited.  What I saw was a metallic liquid gloss that was just what I wanted to go over my metallic red lipstick for the holidays.

Once applied, the fragrance is sort of a caramel fragrance, but it goes away pretty quickly.  Also, the texture is slick but not overly sticky, which is another plus. 


HOW WELL DOES THIS JUICY TUBE PERFORM?

IN ALL HER SPLENDOR JUICY TUBE for the 2008 holiday season from LANCOME is a wonderful lipgloss.  You can put it on sheerly and it will add just a hint of color, or you can apply it more heavily for a lovely pigmented metallic sheen.  It is especially fantastic over lipstick which is metallic red- such as MAC Queen's Sin from last year's holiday collection.

The color stays on well, and the lip gloss stays moist and emollient for at least an hour.  If you like highly pigmented gloss, this might not do it for you alone, because I would say it is sheer to semi sheer.  However, if you like just a hint of color, this is a MUST try.

A word of caution- if you have lips that tend to have gloss bleed up into the skin beyond the lips- you will want to be sure that you use this with a lip liner and apply sheerly over another lipstick.  It could tend to travel up beyond lips on some people.  I will experiment with this and edit this review, if necessary to update you on this aspect of performance.


FINAL COMMENTS

I managed to use some returns that I had that day to get a tube of IN ALL HER SPLENDOR 'ULTRA SHINY JUICY TUBE lipgloss from LANCOME.  I have been extremely thrilled with it and look forward to using it during the holiday season this year.  It is the first Juicy Tube that I have been able to use for a very long time, and I am so happy that it is such a beautiful color.

You will have to look under the heading of ULTRA SHINY to find it as it is not listed with the traditional JUICY TUBE lipglosses.

The price is very high- $18 per tube, but if you really want a lovely metallic red gloss for the holidays, you might want to check it out at a local department store that carries Lancome.

I haven't bought the red gloss yet, but I love most of the Juicy Tubes that I am currently using. I don't mind some of the scents, like one that was a limited edition cafe mocha and had the aroma of coffee, wasn't real strong, but nice.

I just ordered this. It hasn't come yet but it looked like the perfect shade for me for the holidays. I'm so glad to read that it doesn't smell as badly as the others. They have a funky scent!
