I purchased this toy for my son because one of my nieces had it and I thought it looked cute and made music.  However, my son has not seemed to really get into playing with it.  The legs of the octopus are what you push to make noise, however, my son (even at the age of two) has a hard time pushing the legs hard enough to be able to make it play music.  So, if I am sitting with him and "playing" the octopus he enjoys it, but it has never been a toy that he could just enjoy on his own because he can't make it produce noise.  The toy is very sturdy and has nice bright colors which are attractive to children.  The musical notes it plays are pleasant, not too loud.  Also, the toy comes with this scent fused into it.  Someone told me that it is suppose to be vanilla scented, but to me it is just nauseating.  I can't stand to be around the toy for very long before I have to move to another part of the room.

I love the Lamaze Octotunes and so does my daughter. This toy is very nice. It is a plush octopus and the tentacles which you see in the picture squeak out musical notes. One downside might be that the Octotunes is not really available in many colors. The are mostly green, blue, or orange (well at least the ones that I have seen). But still they are colorful and will easy get your child's attention. It is about a foot high and almost a foot wide so easy for baby to use. When you squeeze the tentacles the musical notes come out, so the baby can start making her/his own music. Also the head of the octopus is large so easy carrying for baby.  This toy is sweet, and I do mean sweet. Before you think you might have a defective octopus let me tell you that the octopus is supposed to smell like vanilla. But after awhile the smell will fade, due to be played with so much and washed. It will at sometime began to smell like your wonderful child. A down side would also be that the toy can only be spot-washed, so no washing machine. This toy can be used from infants from birth and older. It truly is perfect for any age. My daughter loves anything that plays music and this is on the top of her list. It really seems to grab her attention quiet well.

I just don't see the amazement...  I get that it is very colorful and makes noise to get babies attention but it also weighs at much as baby.... Definetly don't drop it or hang it up somewhere it can fall on your kid.  Also the legs on it are huge! I know my 6 month olds hands are entirely too small to fit around it anytime soon to make the noises herself.  Also it is kind of awkward for your kid to play with. The noise making is on the bottom so my daughter leans forward so much she just ends up laying down to reach the arms and then doesn't care about it anymore.  There are much cheaper noise makers that you can get colorful with out spending so much.

My son has played with the Octotunes toy from 1-4 years old. We play together and you can actually play little tunes on it. It's durable and I would recommend it to someone looking for educational toys for their child or for a gift.

This is the only toy my husband has ever picked out for our three children.  He is musical, and he loved the different notes that the octupus' legs make. The kids find it entertaining - it's not one of the toys they play with for a long time, but they dig it out every few minutes. Interestingly, my husband's friends seem to find it endlessly entertaining, they play short, easy songs using the different notes that the legs make. It is a bit hard for my younger child (17 months) to make the notes play - she's just not quite big enough.  But other than that, we like it pretty well.

I never really understood the hype of Lamaze toys until I had my own baby! I was very glad when someone bought this for our son as I had been eyeing it along with other Lamaze toys. This one is by far my favourite one because of all of the colours, the soft textures, and of course the musicality of it! I think it's my sons favourite too because he can play with it for hours without getting bored of it which is a lot to say for a 5 month old! It is not too small, but also not too big that you can't carry it around with you, or make space for it in the diaper bag.  I do agree with others that have said Lamaze toys are a bit overpriced. For that same amount of money you can buy multiple toys and maybe even a pack of diapers! But in my opinion, it was money well spent because not only does it keep my son busy and entertained, but it also helps him explore and learn which you really cannot put a price tag on!
