Although my three parrots eat a diet of mostly fresh foods (rice, beans, veggies, fruits, pasta, etc), I still buy manufactured foods and pellets now and then to offer as a treat.  I knew that the crew really loved regular Nutriberries, so I picked up a bag of Lafeber's Sunny Orchard Nutriberries for them last week.

This product contains things like corn, millet, oat groats, safflower, soybean meal, wheat, cranberries, apricots, golden raisins, etc.  It also has various vitamin and mineral supplements to ensure that your parrot gets all of the 40 nutrients essential for good health.  The round "berry" shape is supposed to attract your bird's attention and also minimize waste.  As any bird owner knows, they make a huge mess when they eat and the amount that hits the cage floor equals if not surpasses what they actually get into their systems.  Lafeber claims that a whopping 96% of their Sunny Orchard Nutriberries will be consumed!

Although the company states that these Nutriberries are not a treat or snack and should be fed as a complete meal, I use them as occasional treats for my Eclectus, Blue & Gold Macaw, and Timneh African Grey.  My crew does very well on an almost completely fresh diet.  Also, ekkies are known to be very sensitive to vitamin/mineral supplements.  They get one of these Nutriberries per day... maybe two if they are lucky.  They absolutely love them and frequently coo, whistle, or otherwise express their happiness when I give them a Sunny Orchard Nutriberry

I wouldn't recommend these as the sole diet for any kind of bird, but they work well as occasional treats despite what Lafeber would like you to believe.  At about $7 per 10 ounce bag, they are a great deal for at least a month's worth of treats!
