When I adopted my first parrot two years ago, her foster mom gave me a container of Lafeber Nutriberries. She had purchased them for her bird and it turned out that he didn't like them. She told me that Lafeber products are excellent and that these Nutriberries could be fed as the main diet rather than just an occasional treat. I've sinced learned that her advice was not the best but I do still continue to purchase this product as an occasional treat.
Nutriberries are round, solid balls of corn, seed, nuts, egg, oats, etc. They come in different sizes for parakeets, cockatiels, parrots,...
review »Nutri-berries are theoretically nutritionally balanced, but I concur with other reviewers that they wouldn't be the best choice as a main diet. They're a good treat or an easy meal to give at times when I am in too much of a hurry to prepare fresh food. My Timneh grey always welcomes them. It's a relatively expensive food to give, and although almost the whole berry is "theoretically" edible, in practice my bird carefully picks out the safflower seeds, peanut pieces, and other favorite bits, and the rest tends to get dropped on the cage floor. Still, it's a fun food for him to eat and anything...
review »My G2 has developed an addiction to these treats and I'm happy to enable her! The ingredients are healthy, the size is perfect for her to hold and her enjoyment gives me some "down time" on busy days!
The container keeps the product fresh although I do transfer to a pretty canister. The cost is a bit high but I balance that fact with the quality and it's worth every penny.
Although these are healthy and nutricious treat for birds, my Cockatoo won't eat them...She's very picky.
