Lafeber Garden Veggies Nutriberries —

Despite the fact that I spend a lot of time and money each week preparing a cooked food mix for my three parrots and supplement that with chopped fresh fruits and veggies, I still like to keep a few types of commercially-prepared foods and treats in the house.  Sometimes I just like to give them a bit of a change and other times I need to use those products when I go away overnight or for a few days.  I always have some type of Lafeber Nutriberries on hand and this month I'm using their Garden Veggies variety.

Nutriberries are gumball-sized balls of parrot food that are designed to stimulate their interest, encourage foraging, and provide them with a complete and balanced nutrition.  The Lafeber company claims that the round shape reduces waste.  Garden Veggies Nutriberries contain ingredients like corn, hulled millet, oat groats, red millet, carrots, peanuts, wheat, peas, egg, broccoli, and a bunch of vitamin and mineral supplements.  Although this product is designed to be used as a complete diet, I tend to just give my parrots one or two per day as a treat.

All three of my parrots really like Lafeber Garden Veggies Nutriberries.  The macaw yells "yum" when he takes his first bite while the grey does her little beep of approval.  The Eclectus is the biggest pig of all and is usually too busy devouring her nutriberry to make any kind of commentary on it.

I wouldn't suggest using this product as the sole diet of a parrot because, personally, I believe in feeding them lots of fresh foods like rice, beans, veggies, fruits, eggs, etc.  That being said, I think the Garden Veggies Nutriberries are a nice supplement to the diet as treats.  They also are very convenient for times when I am going away overnight and want to bother friends/family with the care of the birds.  I simply fill up the bowl that is usually filled with fresh food with Nutriberries and they are fine until I get home the next day.

At about $8 per bag, I find the price reasonable as each one lasts us about a month.  Both the parrots and I like Lafeber Garden Veggies Nutriberries and I will definitely buy them again.  Recommended!

My birds also love Nutriberries. And I alsoi use them as a treat and not a primary diet. I use Zupreem pellets and fresh fruits and veggies as a primary diet.
