LaPlaya Golf and Beach resort is a great place to get away during their off-season because it's a great value for the money. We have stayed here twice now and always have a great time. The first time we went down, it seemed as though we were the only couple there. We had the pools pretty much all to ourselves, and there was hardly any one down on the beach...it was very romantic and quiet. This past time we went down, they had a few weddings going on and there was a bunch of little kids running around which we didn't expect, but it didn't put too much of a damper on the pool time. We got a great rate for this hotel since we went in the first week of hurricane season. Because of the weather, we were cooped up in the room for part of the time - but that wasn't a problem at all, since the room was so comfortable and spacious, and the room service and in-room amenities were fantastic. The LaPlaya is located in the most peaceful, quiet spot - great for relaxing at the beach or elsewhere in the hotel, but not terribly convenient for trekking into town. La Playa is the perfect beach resort for adults and children. The beach, with its clean, white sand, is just steps from the hotel pool area. Hotel beach staff set up umbrellas and chairs, and the dining staff regularly checked the beach and pool area patrons for orders. The Spa on site is well-appointed and the Spa staff knowledgeable. The room with its two queen beds was one of the largest I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was very large as well. The staff is very friendly and customer oriented. Our intention for this vacation was to simply relax and enjoy the serenity of the ocean. Well, that is exactly what we got! Our room had spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico. The sunset each night was breathtaking. During the day, we were able to enjoy the beach, play in the sand, kayak, jet ski, paddle boat! What a week....! The tiki hut food and beverabe service was an added bonus....!
