My feet get abused pretty much on a daily basis. During the school year I spend hours on them while teaching and during the summer I go everywhere in flip-flops. Because they never get a break, it's important for me to use a good moisturizer or cream on them each night. If the product produces a cooling, warming, or tingling sensation, that's an added bonus. One of my favorite foot lotions is LUSH Pied De Pepper.
This product is a thin but potent reddish-tan lotion that smells like those spicy red candy hearts that are sold around Valentine's Day. It's sold in 3.5 ounce black plastic jars for $12.95. Pied De Pepper contains olive oil and cocoa butter to soften skin, ginger oil to stimulate circulation, lemon oil to control perspiration, and cinnamon and clove oils which have antiseptic and warming properties. You only need a small amount of product to completely cover your feet so the jar lasts me at least a month and sometimes even two.
This lotion does an excellent job of moisturizing and softening my dry, cracked feet. The combination of the ginger, cinnamon, and clove oils produce a pleasant warming and tingling sensation that feels wonderful after a long day on my feet. The scent is fairly strong and, while I love it, my boyfriend does not. I always apply this product (and then put on socks) just before bedtime and he complains at least once a week that the whole room smells like cinnamon candy.
Pied De Pepper can be purchased in LUSH shops or via mail order on the company web site. LUSH.com has a complete listing of stores around the world to help you determine if there's one in your area. I've bought it both ways: via mail order and also in the Atlantic City store.
This product may be pricier than your typical drug store foot lotion but it's absolutely wonderful and worth the expense. I've been through four jars of it now and have no plans to stop buying it anytime soon!
