I've tried dozens and dozens of LUSH products in the past several months. One of my absolute favorites is their Ocean Salt Facial Scrub. It's a pricey product but I've found it to be well worth the expense. I'm working on my third jar of it at the moment and I just love it.
This scrub is designed to be used on your face but you can actually use it all over your body if you wish. LUSH's description on the label of this scrub reads: We take the lime and the coconut (and grapefruit and sea salt) and mix them up together in our stimulating, fruity, vodka-based face scrub. For a complexion that glows. I had never heard of a vodka facial scrub before purchasing this product. Is vodka supposed to be good for skin?
When you open up this scrub, you never know exactly what you are going to find. Two of the jars I bought had a blue layer on top while the third was completely white. Most of the "blue" containers was actually white and had to be mixed up prior to use. All three of them were sprinkled with large pretzel-type pieces of salt. Ocean Salt smells like a lovely, soft blend of lime and salt. There are obviously other fragrance notes involved in the scent but I really can't pick out anything other than lime and salt.
You only need a small amount of this product to scrub your entire face. Some people may not appreciate the strong exfoliation that Ocean Salt provides but I love it. I apply very little pressure when spreading this product across skin; it contains so much salt that exerting pressure would probably result in scratches and skin damage. Be gentle when you use this scrub. When it's time to rinse off, be forewarned that you're probably going to taste the salt. Growing up at the ocean, it doesn't upset me much but it may shock someone from the Mid-West who has never tasted salt water before. My sister had the unfortunate experience of using this scrub for the first time in a bubble bath. She must have gotten a bit of product too close to her mouth and couldn't even use the water in the tub to rinse it off because it was loaded with bubble bath. Just thinking about her experience makes me laugh every time...
Ocean Salt leaves your face feeling super-soft and smooth. I've never tried microdermabrasion but I seriously doubt that it could do a better job that this scrub. That being said, it does tend to leave my normal to combination skin somewhat dry. I absolutely would not recommend it for anyone who already has dry or sensitive skin. I also wouldn't suggest using it as a daily facial scrub; I've found that it works best once or twice a week.
This wonderful facial scrub comes with a bit of a hefty price: $16.95 for 4.2 ounces or $29.95 for 8.8 ounces. I've stuck to the smaller containers thus far and each one has lasted me for 2 or 3 months. You can purchase this product from LUSH shops or the company's web site.
I really love this product and will continue to buy it in the future. It's not for all skin types but it's wonderful for mine. If you have oily, combination, or normal skin, consider trying LUSH Ocean Salt Facial Scrub. I think you'll love it.
