Too many side effects

3

My face was looking lifeless after a harsh winter so I decided to try out LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask. The consistency of this clay is very thick and gritty, which caused me to use a lot more than I wanted to because it doesn't spread well. I did enjoy the scent of this product, but that should have been a warning sign because my skin doesn't handle fragrances well. This clay provided a nice cool tingling sensation over my face, which was relaxing. I left the clay on my face for 15 minutes and found it to be a little difficult to rinse off. I had to use a baby wipe to gently remove the clay residue. Once my face was completely clean I immediately noticed a change in my appearance. My skin felt soft, looked alive, and my pores were smaller. I was happy with the results initially, but as the day went on I started to notice an abundance of oil building up on my face. Oil was practically dripping off my face 3 hours after using this product. I started to develop whiteheads all over my face. I refrained from using this product for a week to let my skin settle down. Once my face returned back to normal I tried this clay mask again and I experienced the same irritations. I wanted to love LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask, but the side effects were too much to overcome.

Irritated my skin

3

For some reason, the LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask irritated my skin after I applied it all over my face. When I initially put it on, my face began to harden a lot and it felt uncomfortable because I didn't use masks often. Also, I didn't find the scent that appealing. After I took off the mask, my face was a bit red and irritated.

This mask is really minty.

It feels really minty when you put it on, and after you wash it off you can see that your pores are clearer and you face is lace red and clearer. You can feel the mask tightening and drying after 10 minutes or so and the mask dries darker on the oilier spots on your face. I read on lush's website that it contains soothing ingredients so even though I have sensitive skin, this mask didn't irritate my face. Effectiveness I saw a difference in my skin after using this mask, and my skin felt so much softer. Ease of Application Overall this mask is easy to apply (especially if your face has had steam/warm water on it prior to putting it on) but because it has scrubby beads (I think) they clump up sometimes when applying so the smooth part is on your face and the more solid/rough bits of the mask end up on your fingertips. Scent The smell takes a bit to get used to, but personally I think it smells good, it doesn't have a fake minty scent like some other masks.

Decent Product But Low Shelf-Life

I have purchased and received quite a bit of this product over the years and I have to say that it works very well for a weekly face mask to help tighten pores and soak up oil. As the name says, this mask has a VERY strong smell of mint, to the point where it can be slightly over-powering. In addition the peppermint oil, the mask has some aduki beans for exfoliation and clay for oil absorption and dirt removal. I use this mask on a weekly basis and I find that it's exceptionally good at keeping pores tight, removing redness, and squashing occasional breakouts. However, the application can be a bit messy, especially when you're removing the product and I suggested putting on the mask before a shower and just taking it off in the water. Also, the product tends to dry out rather quickly because the container allows more air in than a tubed product would. Overall I think this is a great product but I think it would benefit from a different type of packaging.

I felt like this is one of Lush's duds. While I really wanted to like this product, I just felt that it was really ineffective, and sort of unappealing all around. It smelled so bad, and it cracked and peeled off my skin as it was drying so it didn't even get to do it's job fully. Usually I am a huge benefit of Lush products but this one just stinks, and doesn't really work. Plus it is sort of hard to put on your face as well. I wouldn't recommend this product. I ended up using this product maybe three times before giving it to my sister, who in turn used it a few times and then threw it away. If you want a face mask through Lush try one of their fresh face masks. Effectiveness It didn't make me break out or cause a rash or anything, but I also did not see any improvement in my skin as well after using this product. Ease of Application This face mask was sort of "stiff" and hard to put on. It felt like I was putting hardened mud on. Scent This smells like those dog mint bars. Yuck.

Lush Mask of Magnaminty is Masquerading as useful

I have to confess first off that I am a absolute LUSH junkie!  I love this product line.  I love the concept of the LUSH line, all natural and fresh products.  I love it! I love it! I love it! That confessed... this is the only product I have EVER purchased from LUSH that I absolutely thought.. whats the big deal?  The absolutely only thing I like about this product is the LUSH packaging jar.  The texture is gritty, not microdermabrasion gritty but like something accidently got mixed in there gritty.  The mask itself is very thick and sticky.  The mask does not wash off easily at all.  The mask also does not wash off wash clothes easily, you have to rinse and rinse. If all that was not enough.  It's stinky and just plain does not work.  I might as well not have put it on as absolutely nothing happen.  No cleaner skin, no softer skin, just nothing at all.  This also hardened quite a bit in the jar after a few weeks of no use.  Just yuck!
