So I was at LUSH last week.  I haven't been there in a long time yet they still remember my face as I'm pretty much a VIP there due to the amount of time and money I spend there.  So whenever I show my face at my local LUSH store the sales associates parade me around the store to show me all the new stuff that came in since my last visit.  It's sort of cute and sort of annoying but it's the closest I'll ever get to being Paris Hilton so I just go with it and let it happen.

One of the products that really appealed to me and subsequently ended up in my little straw basket was Let Them Eat Cake lip balm.  Now, I have not been terribly thrilled with many of LUSH's lip balms but it smelled good and seemed to have a very different texture than other LUSH lip balms so I gave it a try.

I really like it a lot with one exception.

When I opened the little tin full of Let Them Eat Cake lip balm it smelled heavenly.  LUSH describes it as orange and lemons, currants and sultanas, vanilla, sherry and treacle and I agree. It smells sweet, slightly citrusy, and totally like yummy cake so I had to have it.

The texture is much different in that LUSH has a new vegan lip balm base that is not as firm so the balm is softer and thinner but much easier to apply.  Where in the past I've had to stick the tin in my pocket or somewhere on my body to warm it up, this new base is very soft and easy to apply even on cold days.  How it will fare in warmer temperatures is yet to be seen but it is refreshing to not have to jump thru hoops to get my lip balm warm enough to apply.  In fact, I have to be really careful to just graze my finger over the top of the balm as too much pressure results in way more than I need.

While Let Them Eat Cake smells really great, the taste leaves something to be desired.  When first applied there is a freaky, bitter taste right off the bat that is rather disturbing, however it goes away within seconds and leaves behind a pleasant tasting balm.  This balm has been quite good for my lips as well as their condition has improved.

The scent of it sounds so appealing. Too bad the taste isn't. :(

We will be doing an overnight at a winery down by Atlantic City next weekend. My sister and I have already told the men that we WILL be dropping into LUSH before we go home. I definitely want to check this balm out. Great review!
