LUSH Karma Dusting Powder —

A friend of mine has been trying to get me to use powder for a long time.  She has repeatedly told me about how great it makes her feel.  Well I finally gave in a few months ago and found that I totally agree with her.  I can't get dressed anymore without applying powder first!

As I'm a total LUSH junkie I decided to start with LUSH dusting powders.  The first one I tried is Karma Dusting Powder which smells like two LUSH products that I love; Karma soap and Karma perfume (see my review).

Karma Dusting Powder is described by LUSH.com as follows: An orange, patchouli, and lemongrass dusting powder with a little flower power to deodorize and absorb moisture. Perfect for layering the scent of Karma to make the good vibes last all day.

Now about the scent.... Karma is very unique.  I love the scent and it's become a bit of a signature scent for me, but I've found that people either love it or hate it and there is no in between.  It contains orange, lemongrass, and patchouli which makes some think of old hippy scent but it just makes me feel all warm and happy.  The scent is unique and complex but is much lighter than the perfume of the same name.  It is citrusy but warm and spicy at the same time.  I prefer to wear this scent during the colder months.

Karma's consistency is a bit odd compared to other powders.  Many powders I've tried are ultra fine and very soft.  Karma is a bit coarse by comparison.  It's not gritty like salt or anything, but it is not superfine.

Karma comes in a short plastic container that holds 3.5 ounces of powder and costs $10.45.  That does not sound like a lot but is actually plenty as I use only a small amount each day.   The opening on top of the container is a bit annoying as it swirls. It's kind of like the lid of a parmesan cheese dispenser that has holes on one side and a wide opening on the other.  This makes it a little hard to travel with as the lid spins around like it has a mind of it's own and things can easily get messy.

Karma does not come with an applicator.  I picked up a powder puff at the drugstore for under $2 and I use that.  You could also use a large fluffy brush to apply the powder.  Karma keeps me smelling nice all day with its light fragrance, but the best thing is that it keeps my skin feeling cool, dry, and soft as well.  When I get dressed on a hot day it's so much easier for my clothes to skim over my skin after I've applied powder.

I haven't used powder for a long time. I use cream only on my face as I don't like the feel on the rest of my body. Thanks for the info on Karma.

I have never heard that, Meredith. I'm going to research that fact as I'm curious now. Although I think I'd welcome that problem. I'm soooo oily it's not even funny. I swear you could squeeze my head like an olive and oil would come out. Gross, I know.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

karma sounds like a scent i would like... lemongrass is my fav. one issue with powders though - have you heard they dry your skin out too much making you prone to wrinkles? i stopped using BareEscentuals on my face after someone told me creams are better.
