LUSH Godiva —

I imagine myself standing somewhere - much like a firing line - and being pelted by little pucks of solid hair shampoo for what I'm about to write.  Lush produces some of the finest products you could purchase for your body, hair and senses.  That said, if you live in a remote place and CANNOT drop into a Lush store, get the best advice you can , then  purchase with caution! In a perfect world, you live close to a Lush store and can go score some samples first.  This is the ONLY way to know how one of their products will work for you.

I first used Lush products about 8 years ago.  Loved their solid shampoos (Gentle Lentil especially!) and the idea of carrying around a small tin for shampoo, rather than a potentially leaky bottle.  So I recently got the urge to re-Lush my lineup, and went a bit nuts on their website.  Going totally off reviews (both here and on their site too), I chose three solid shampoos and a conditioner.  Mind you, I live in a remote location and the closest Lush may as well be on Mars, it's that accessible.

Sigh.  Shipping was a bit dear ($12), but they did get it here relatively quickly and with ample e-mail notificaiton and tracking options.  The cost of the shampoo puck itself was a bit pricy (about $10), but they do last quite a while, so this wasn't so bad for cost.

But.... Godiva is supposed to be full of conditioning agents and suitable for dry/fine hair.  Ummm... not really (at least in my case).  My hair has never, NEVER been so tangled post-shower.  Even with conditioner, it's a tangled horror back there (i have shoulder-length fine hair).  I love the scent (think: warm jasmine....), but it faded quickly once my hair had dried.  Throughout the day, my hair appeared flat and stringy, and absolutely heinous by the next morning.

The bottom line:  I still love Lush.  I will keep trying other solid shampoos, but have rehomed my Godiva with a friend with my sincerest wishes of good luck.  My suggestion is to score a sample before you buy these - my hair is not your hair and it may work just great for the next person up.  I'd like to give more stars for the idea of solid shampoo, but feel like I'm out $10+ expensive shipping for absolutely nothing.

Sorry it didn't work for you and getting a sample is a great tip to others...;) Ron
