LUSH is a funny skin care company that is committed to producing small batches of fresh, handmade items that contain lots of natural ingredients. Sometimes their stuff is absolutely amazing while other times it is downright abysmal. This line is very hit-or-miss. While I don't totally hate their Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser, it isn't my absolute favorite facial cleanser. It's better than average but I don't know if I'd buy it again.
Angels on Bare Skin contains ground almonds, glycerin, water, clay, lavender oil, rose absolute, lavender flowers, and perfume. That's it. This facial cleanser is sold as a "slice" off of a giant roll. It looks a lot like white Play-Doh or colorless wasabi and has a strong lavender scent. This fresh product expires three months after the manufacture date. Unfortunately, I received my container via mail order and the label did not include either a manufacture or expiration date. I'm going to use 3 months from my order date as the projected expiration date.
LUSH suggests pinching off a pea-sized amount of this cleanser and then adding water to it in your palm to create a paste. I found that that method created nothing but a mess. The best way that I've worked out to use Angels on Bare Skin is to splash a bunch of warm water on my face and then rub a piece of product across it to create a layer of cleanser which can then be worked into skin. In this latest batch I did feel some gentle exfoliating action but definitely wouldn't classify this product as a "scrub".
When I rinse Angels on Bare Skin from my face, the skin is left feeling smooth, soft, and covered in a light veil of lavender oil. I always use a moisturizer after washing my face but I don't feel like I *immediately* need to apply it like I usually do with other cleansers. I have combination skin so I was a bit nervous about using a product with a high lavender oil content, but I haven't had any issues with blemishes or oily skin while using it.
A 3.5 ounce container of this cleansing roll costs $9.50 which makes it more expensive than drug store products. The good news is that a little goes a long way and you'll probably be able to use it for the entire three months before it expires. I would recommend LUSH Angels on Bare Skin Facial Cleanser to anyone who is looking for a gentle cleanser for dry, sensitive, or combination skin. It can be a bit of a pain to figure out how to use it but the results are well worth the effort.
