L'Oreal Skin Genesis Serum Review

As you will find in my other reviews here on Viewpoints, I have been exploring skin care lines for anti aging *miralces* since discovering some of the miraculous results through certain high end lines over the years.

There is nothing more exciting than finding a cream or product that gives your face a lift and makes you feel rested and pretty without having to have surgery or expensive treatments.

I have been sold on the Christian Dior Capture R 60/80 line of products since seeing jaw dropping results last year.  You can read about that story here, so you will understand the frame of reference with which I am writing this review of L'Oreal Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate.

HOW DID I START USING THE L'OREAL SKIN GENESIS LINE OF PRODUCTS?

Last year when I could not find an eye cream to replace the eye cream I had loved using from LANCOME, a friend told me to try the L'Oreal Skin Genesis Eye Serum.  I am VERY sensitive to eye products, so I hesitated to try it, but after reading countless reviews by people who were very happy with it, I decided to try it.

Although not the jaw dropping miracle that I had seen with a few eye creams (now discontinued) over the years, I did see a lovely consistent gentle process with my eyes using this cream, so I keep using it.  And there has been NO irritation at all with the Skin GENESIS EYE SERUM so it has been a good performer for my eyes.


WHAT MADE ME WANT TO TRY L'OREAL SKIN GENESIS SERUM CONCENTRATE?

If you would like to know what measure I am putting this serum up against, read my review of CHRISTIAN DIOR's CAPTURE R 60 80 serum here and then you wil understand what SKIN GENESIS is up against.

When I was at the store last weekend, I had seen a remarkable sight- there was a sign at the L'Oreal skin area that had every single line of skin care from L'Oreal with a Buy One Get One Free sign on it.

One of the items was that if you wanted a SKIN GENESIS EYE SERUM FREE, then you had to buy one of the creams from the L'OREAL SKIN GENESIS skincare line.  Well, since I use the eye serum anyway, I decided to try one of their creams.  I also had a $2 coupon so the price ended up being only $9 each!

I chose the serum and was going to get the eye cream free, but then decided to try the night cream instead which was the atlernative free product to the eye serum.

I have not been using any lifting or anti aging products much at all for the last few months- except on rare occasions, so I decided that it was a good time to test this product line.

I put on a little bit of the night cream and rubbed it in.  I was amazed.  Since I forgot to put on the serum first, I grabbed my husband and smeared it on his face.  The results were totally amazing.

I got the reaction JUST LIKE I GOT from CHRISTIAN DIOR CAPTURE R 60 80 Serum which costs 10 times more than I got this serum for.

When I opened the box, I saw a coupon for $5 off of a future purchase, so I went in and bought the entire line, getting it in the end for only $7.50 per bottle.


WHAT IS L'OREAL SKIN GENESIS SERUM CONCENTRATE LIKE?

The texture of the Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate is a bit strange at first.  Because of silicone feeling ingredients in this serum, a little goes a long way.  If you use too much, it is like slipping on raw egg whites on the floor.  The surface gets slippery and is hard to get to absorb well into the skin.  It is clear serum so there is not any pearlescence to it.

However, if you use just a tiny bit and apply well to each section of face and neck, the results are very close to that of the DIOR CAPTURE R 60 80 serum which I have raved about almost non stop for over a year now.

The bottle is an air tight pump, just like the DIOR CAPTURE R 60/80 Serum and the performance- well my husband's face in the parking lot, much to his horror when I jumped on him in the car and slathered it on his face, actually morphed JUST LIKE IT DID IN MY ORIGINAL EXPERIENCE WITH DIOR.

WHAT DOES SKIN GENESIS SERUM CONCENTRATE DO?

Well, I am amazed to say that after a whole week of using this product, the results are amazingly as good- or in my husband's opinion- SUPERIOR- to DIOR or LANCOME ABSOLUE.

Within 15 minutes the face morphs into a face lift look.  Skin appears much younger, and clarity is achieved. 

This is not a moisturizer so you will need to use a moisturizer with it.  I would recommend one of the Skin Genesis moisturizers- which I will be reviewing in the near future.


COMMENTS

Before I go any further, I need to call your attention to the fact that most Anti Aging products will have skin bleaching agents in them.  That will leave the face very prone to burning in bright sunlight despite the SPF content of the products.

It will also bleach any area it is on so that any tan will fade, and any sunless tanner will be lightened right up. 

I reserve products like this for winter, fall and early spring use only when I know I will not be in heavy sunlight for long periods. 

In one week, my husband has not complained of alcohol burning like he has with other skincare products I have tested on him.  He is also very excited because there is no greasy feel to this stuff so far.

Now, if you apply too much of the SKIN GENESIS SERUM CONCENTRATE you will end up with a tacky almost sticky feel to the skin- GO VERY LIGHTLY with this stuff.

The results do not last more than 36 hours without reapplication, but that is pretty decent considering that CHRISTIAN DIOR CAPTURE R 60 80 is about the same duration.

I also want to mention that some people have had problems with this serum balling up and coming off, especially if they use silicone based foundations with it.

I have found that if I use this serum very lightly and then follow with one of the Skin Genesis moisturizers, there is no problem for me so far. 

Also, the first time I applied this to my husband, his face flushed for a short while and then has not done it since.  I do know that new skin products will often cause odd reactions at first while the skin acclimates to them, but so far, he loves it.

And he is not one to care much about skincare most of the time.  If it is inconvenient or irritating in any way, he won't be bothered with it.  He actually LOVES this stuff, which is amazing.

Full price on this stuff id $19.99 at CVS drugstores so even full price it is a lot cheaper than DIOR or LANCOME or many other high end skin care items.

I also want to mention that SKIN GENESIS carries the same key ingredient that LANCOME ABSOLUE has called Pro-Xylane plus hyalrounic acid which are excellent moisturizers over time.

UPDATE

It has been quite some time of using this serum on my husband and he still loves it.  I just finished a review of the fragrance free daily moisturizer which includes updated information on the serum's performance with foundation.
