I wanted to color my hair with something that I knew would work well with dark brown hair, while still showing some color. I wanted something that wasn't too obnoxious, and I wanted to use a product I've tried before (albeit a different shade) that I'd already been happy with. I thought the "Deepest Violet" was pretty, so I tried that. It wasn't too bright- just subtle enough to feel comfortable wearing out around friends and colleagues. It actually covered my grey hairs, which hardly any hair dyes do! Seriously, that was the biggest perk. But it also comes with extra conditioners, which I love. My hair has been soft, and manageable. Of course you'll get purple on your skin, and on your countertops and tub, but I think that's true for any color dye. You also don't need to bleach your hair first, unless you just want it to be even more vibrant. But I love it how it is.

I have used the same dye for years with no problems but decided to try this in the pink Feria for a different look. I desperately wish I didn't. It has made my hair fall out like crazy! It literally comes out by the handful and when I wear my hair down it gets all over my clothes. I have had people stop me to tell me I have hair all over my back. Really embarrassing. This has gone on for well over a month. I now have to wear hairpieces.

After being a redhead for 2 years, I decided to go back to my natural color of a dark chocolate brunette. However, red is the hardest color to get rid of and cover. My stylist told me that as far as at home color goes, I would have the best results using a natural shade as a cool or warm shade of dark brown would turn black or purplish black on top of red. After reading the reviews of this color- Loreal Feria Espresso- I decided that this is the shade I'd try. It's awesome!! It's very close, the closest I've ever seen to the box color. It's a rich dark brown shade with definition. It's dark, but not too dark and not black. I am very happy! It is exactly what I was going for! I have found my new go to color!! Effectiveness Great rich color, with definition. Conditioner leaves hair feeling soft and looking shiny and healthy, better than before color. It covers grey pretty good even though Feria is not for covering grey. This shade does so very well. Ease of Application It's easy to mix together and apply but it is really messy so be sure you cover everything up good so you don't ruin it.

This is the only at-home color system I use. I have tried many different brands over the years, but Feria consistently give me the quality I want at an affordable price. After going to the salon for a few years, I read an article on how to best color your hair at home. How to choose the right color was always the downfall for me. What I love about Feria is the natural highlights it gives you. It truly is a three dimensional color like you would get at a salon. I gets tons of compliments on my hair... people can't believe I color it MYSELF at home! I highly recommend Feria. Effectiveness Because of the multi-faceted highlights, I don't need to color as often with Feria. It hides the gray better than any color I have tried! Ease of Application It's super easy to apply!

The Bottom Line: L'Oreal Feria Multi-faced Shimmering color in Espresso worked wonders the first time I used it and gave my hair a beautifully rich espresso color. The second time, my hair came out looking dull, and not even the same color. I have not been able to replicate the original results and had to switch to a different brand all together. I am still quite perplexed over the fact that, even though I purchased the exact same products (Feria in Espresso) for the first, second and even third use (because I figured the second box maybe had gone bad), I was never able to get the results I got from my first Feria use. The first time I used this product, the results were gorgeous, with a deep and rich espresso color, and lots of shine. The color lasted about 3 months, and my hair grew out and the color started looking dull, so I bought another box to give it another color boost. I made sure my hair was perfectly clean and free of build up before the coloring process. The results were completely underwhelming. The color came out dull, and actually quite different from the first time and had a bit of an orange tint to it. My hair was also not shiny at all, and looked quite dull. I lived with it for 4 months hoping it would just fade away, and when I felt my hair was ready to be colored again, I went ahead and bought a third Feria Espresso box, hoping for the results of the first time. Unfortunately, the results were awful once again. Dull, limp hair, and awful color were the results. I ended up going to a hair salon to get a haircut to get rid of a lot of the hair so that I could let it grow out to get rid of that awful color. I had to switch to a completely different brand a few months later. Effectiveness The results were stunning for the first use only. Ease of Application This L'Oreal Feria hair coloring system is the same as all the others, it can get a bit messy and I always have a hard time feeling with my gloved hands where my hair needs to be treated, it will also stain your skin if you don't use Vaseline to protect the skin, but this is a common occurrence with all hair coloring products.

Any L'Oreal hair coloring product is good, and Feria is probably the best they have to offer. The shades offered are gorgeous, the results are very close to perfect. I have used several of the red and brown shades, and found my hair to be lovely and in great condition after coloring. The conditioner provided really softens the hair. The color looks very natural for a home coloring job. The color is vivid and bright. Effectiveness The only issue I might have is the effectiveness for gray coverage is not as good as with some other L'Oreal products.

I love Feria. I've been using it for about 5 years now. Of course, I've tried lots of the colors but my favorite is the Expresso color. Very rich color, very easy to apply, simple to wash out. I have found that gray coverage isn't all that great. I mean, it does cover but it "highlights" the grey's instead of hiding them. they are left lighter than the rest of my hair. This would look cool if I had more grey's than I do! Effectiveness Overall coloring is great, grey coverage could be better. The color is rich, even, & does highlight my hair too. I have multi-faceted colors in my hair & the light catches all of them very well. I have super resistant hair though, I have to leave color on about 35 minutes to get coverage. Ease of Application once everything is mixed, it's easy to get on & simple to get off! I shampoo after I rinse out just to make sure I get the rest off because it will bleed on your towels or sheets if you sleep with wet hair.

This is one of my favorite at-home hair color products. I use this one and one other brand. The colors are vibrant and long-lasting as long as you take care of your hair and use the correct products. I have wound up with some COLORS I wasn't too fond of, but you can't blame the PRODUCT itself because of a mistake in color choice. It covers grays very well(I use it on my husband as well). Unless the box specifies, however, don't expect your medium-dark brown hair to turn blonde or light red! They do have specific ones that will LIGHTEN, you just have to read the box carefully. My absolute favorite has to be Ruby Rush and Rich Mahogany mixed together... it creates this beautiful shade of deep auburn red with bright flashes of red in the sunlight on my naturally dark dark brown hair. Unfortunately, as of right now, I am a copper red head for the first time, and this line doesn't carry the right shade for me to do touch ups at home. It's always best to go to your stylist for any drastic changes! I like to go to my stylist for color once a season, and then touch up my color at home and only go every 6-8 weeks for a trim until my next color change. (I get bored easily, so I usually do a drastic change every season...) All in all, I LOVE this product. They do have a broad spectrum of colors and shades to choose from, and it's fun being able to switch it up myself every now and then. :) It's just hair, you can cover it up, chop it off, and let it grow back if you mess it up. I just keep my stylist on speed dial for any questions I have about choosing color, or just in case I mess up ;) Effectiveness If used properly, this product makes hair soft, shiny, and has very good coverage. It is long lasting as long as correct products are used to care for the hair. Ease of Application Very very simple to use. Just follow the directions properly and you should have zero problems with applications.

I love Feria, it's my go to box color. I've used a few different shades, Chocolate Cherry being my favorite. I've used Feria off and on since I was 15. I've never had an issue with their products and I adore the conditioner that comes with the color. Feria is the only box color I'd recommend to customers that want to color their hair at home. Effectiveness I use Chocolate Cherry which is a burgundy brown, reds fade the fastest but chocolate cherry usually lasts at least a month before fading into a nice brown. Midnight Ruby lasts a good while as well as it's a burgundy black. Their lightener works wonderfully as well. I've used that a few times to lighten my hair from dark to blonde with no issues. Ease of Application Bottle color to me is much easier to apply to your own hair. I apply it using the "shampoo" method, where I just put it all over every where not bothering to section and then comb through to make sure that it is evenly applied.
