I wanted to take a moment to talk about the "Electrolux front loading washing machine" that I purchased at "LOWES". Walking through the large appliance section is (to me) like a kid in a candy store, everything looks bigger and better than the last one you just looked at! The washer was 1199.00 and the dryer was 999.00, a bit over the top but I figured it was a long time investment, the reputation behind the name, the largest front loading capicity, well lets just say,I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough! I had to wait 2 weeks to be delivered because they're so new they have to be shipped from the factory. Before I used it I read the booklet and called to get the "free" dvd so it could answer any questions I may have after the booklet. The customer service woman had no clue what I was talking about, I had to read her the paragraph stating this was available, after a few minutes on hold she comes back to tell me they hadn't even made the dvd yet, but I was now on the list as one of the first to go out when they do become available. Very interesting, so I called 2 other times to check with other service people got the same answer, I don't know about you but I'm thinking not a good sign. By the time the dvd is made I can tell them about their product. So I started to use the washer and I really liked it. You have your choice of "pre set" suggested settings and you could really put alot in there. On the fourth day I went to transfer the clothes into the dryer and the washer is "clicking" away and flashing "pause" on its screen.
I couldn't open it, it wouldn't respond to anything other than the off and on. I called the service company "Lowes" reccomended and waited 5 days for a home visit. I was told the mechanism in the door was broken, the clicking was the latch not knowing what to do. I reminded the service man this is four days old, how could that be, he didn't have an answer for me, but he would order it and it should be no longer than seven working days. Three weeks, still no part. I called "Electrolux" to inquire and all they could do was blame it on the service man which I knew wasn't right, he can't do anything until they send him the part. So I told them they could come and get their washer because I was going to "Sears", I never had a problem with anything I bought there. Suddenly we had an answer for me. I was twentythird (23rd) in line to get that same part and there was no estimated time they were being sent out. They asked me to please give them another try and they would have a new washer at my home in one week. Two weeks later it was here, now I've had it three weeks now and I'm being opened minded about this but in the back of my mind I'm hoping it breaks again because I really think I should've gone to Sears. I'm walking on egg shells around this machine hoping it doesn't break again. I've called the service man I was dealing with before and those twentytwo (22) people ahead of me are still waiting for their replacement part. My true thoughts on this product is they were in to much of a hurry to get the bugs worked out of their product and adequetly finish the dvd they stated they had on their brochure, the part that broke should've been a much stronger part because you need to go in and out constantly, thats what it's all about and the waiting for the part is ridiculous. Don't be blinded by all thats "shiney" ask questions about over all reliabilty, the length of time it's been out for the consumer, the companies reputation, etc. Good luck shoppers!!!!
