LG dishwasher —

We bought an LDF 7811 ST, it was $1000 and it was horrible from the very beginning. It never really dried well. After 6 months it was no longer washing well either and then we got an error message so we had to call for a repair. The repair guy opened it and said that it would take a month for parts (we hand washed for a month) and they replaced EVERYTHING except the tub! The wire harness had melted into the acoustic material and the repair guy said they had recalled it because of fire issues. Within weeks it was obvious it wasn't ever going to dry well. After another 3 or 4 months, it was so bad that we were rewashing by hand about 50% of all the dishes and having to dry 70%. We called LG and they sent out another repair and he told us that this model was the worst model out and that LG was high on the repair list. He said that parts are very hard to get and often take 3-4 weeks. When he finally got the heater part he installed it and turned it on and it flooded our kitchen and leaked through the floor to the room below, bad part. I threw a fit with LG and after a dozen calls they agreed to give us back our money. This was all during a 18 month period! Never again LG....

That's nothing, buy a Fisher Paykel Dishdrawer, $1548, 12 visits from authorized service people to fix. Final visit, F1 failure, leak, no one home, $10,000 in floor and home theatre damage below. Check Fisher Paykel website and reports, going out of business, sales down 40% worldwide, canned CEO, dishwasher drawer plant scrapped in U.S., trying to rebadge under other names. Finally, even though they fixed for time 13, pulled it, put in two Bosch for $1600 that the consumer mags rated high. New Zealand and Southern California and Lisette, just rude and arrogant. Stated, that was not an abnormal amount of service calls. Free enterprise will take them "down under" for good.

I am in the same boat after the warrantee run out, problem after problem, with all the money that i have spent on my LD-14aw3 dishwasher I could have bought a new one. I too will never in my life buy LG crap again.

Good for you Dominic! The whole secret is be uber persistent and bug the hell out of them. Reps hate escalating so just keep forcing the issue and it will get resolved. Its hard to have confidence in a company that sucks so hard...

Thanks iBagwan!

I was contacted by the LG this time and promised to get back to me, They said that they are aware of some of the issues we have. Lets hope for the best. I will not accept a replacement, as this being the 3rd and the worst, I lost totally confidence in their product.
I will keep you posted:)

I can completely sympathize with you. I will NEVER buy anything from LG again. We bought our dishwasher from Costco and that saved us. It took us 2 years to get rid of that piece of .... Costco was the one that really came through for us but I dealt with both them and LG. I finally got LG to agree that the dishwasher was defective but they wanted me to take a newer replacement. I told them ABSOLUTELY NOT! It was at that point I gave up with them and Costco agreed to take it back, happily I might add, and they said they would deal with LG to get a credit back to them. I ended up escalating the issue at Costco and LG multilple times. I would not take no for an answer, I just kept demanding to escalate the issue. I also told them that I would contact every merchandise media outlet and find someone to publish my story because it was as horrendous as yours. I threatened to contact the TV station in Los Angeles that did exposés about bogus products. Basically, I threw a S... Fit. But like I said, ultimately it was Costco that saved me. We ended up buying a Kitchenaid and it has been great. I wanted to buy a Bosch but the one we wanted wasn't available any more and we got a great price on the Kitchenaid. It cleans SO MUCH BETTER then the LG ever did, even when it was brand new. On it's worst day it kicks the crap out that damn LG.... I wish you the best of luck! PS.

They actually did a recall on our model for the wiring harness issue, it was a fire risk and there were a couple of fires that were associated with the wiring harness melting through the insulation. The first time they opened our LG you could see where it had melted through; they replaced it and the very next time they opened the LG again, it had melted through again. That's what I call quality.

This is our 3rd LG dishwasher in the last 2 years. We paid premium for the worst dishwasher ever. After just 2 months, it was replaced with a new model as it was too expensive to be repaired. They gave us the 2007 model which was worse than the previous one. Every time we used it, a smell of burnt insulation would insinuate throughout the house. It never dried properly and during drying the hot vapors were condensing on the floor, sometimes creating a little puddle. First they went to replace the insulation which at that point was brown, at it was melted from the heat. After few weeks we felt again the burning smell. As for the puddle, they said it is normal, because it was designed to let the hot vapors out on the lover left corner. How stupid is that? I have porcelain floors, but if I had hardwood, the floors would've been destroyed already. So, after few more month of not finding anything wrong but the smell, flooding and not drying properly, the service guy put a request to exchange the machine once again. It was approves and in august 2008 we got the 3rd one installed, which is the worst of all 3. NOW,not only that it doesn't dry, smells and floods my floors, it doesn't wash, We always find small food particles, especially on the top rack. Called the service again, they checked it with a computer and did not find anything wrong. We end up[ washing our dished by hand most of the time, which is pretty upsetting knowing how much we paid on this piece of ... I called LG Canada, wrote a complaint, nothing was done and never got their response. Any advice on how to get my money back? I asked to talk to a supervisor, but no luck so far. I am so mad that I am willing to drive there(the headquarters) and force myself in:) Maybe this way will listen. And b.t.w. we are in Canada, and we payed almost 1700 dollars for this. We had a cheap one before, we paid 250 dollars and never had a problem with it.
Thanks for allowing me to vent here.
