We purchased all new LG appliances - Fridge, Range, Microwave, Dishwasher.

I installed them. The Fridge door mounted control panel was defective from the get go.

Emailed LG - no reply. Called Home Depot, they sent out a repair tech who ordered the fridge part. He looked at the dishwasher and said "well that's how they operate" - WRONG. He recommended Cascade detergent and Jet dry - both of which we are using.

The dishwasher, model LDF6920ST looks beautiful, stainless steel, hidden controls and matches the other appliances, it's also very quiet. However my 10+ year old basic model Whirlpool worked much better. The LG leaves food on the dishes, what it removes it deposits on the back surfaces then it dries it on. The spray is so weak that the pop open door (vertical) soap compartment will still have detergent inside after a TWO HOUR power scrub cycle. Thank God I didn't have them haul away the old appliances. My wife is about to make me re-install the old Whirlpool.

Our first choice was another Whirlpool. The moral of the story is go with your instinct, don't be swayed by a beautiful body.

I do not recommend this product.

Update:

Refrigerator; After waiting 4 weeks for a replacement control panel, LG called and authorized a complete replacement of the appliance. Good, problem solved.

Dishwasher; After a second service call, it was decided that the entire pump/heater assembly needed replacement. LG decided to replace the entire appliance. Good, problem solved? Not so fast.

After installation, one of the lower rack roller wheels which snaps onto the rack broke. A piece of the broken plastic got into the pump mechanism requiring yet another service call. The tech retrieved a small fragment. I still hear something rattling on occasion when the appliance is in operation, but the performance is now vastly improved - almost as good as my old reliable Whirlpool.

Summing up;

attractive design, poor execution. These are not the cheapest appliances. As such I expected more for my money. I still think we should have stuck with Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid (also Whirlpool).

We bought an LG 4821 when our builder installed dishwasher "died" a few months after its warranty expired. We were initially pleased with our new LG Dishwasher, but we recently had parts of the wheels that slide the top section breaking apart, and the some posts that hold the glasses and cups breaking off. We have had ours for about 3 months. Very disappointing. Like this and several other reviews, the outside and inside looks great, but in our case their parts have not held up to handle the daily usage after only a short period of time.
