Because a front loader must have a watertight door, it is necessary to wipe down the inside of the door and the door gasket seal to prevent mold and mildew from growing. I do this faithfully and I leave the door ajar when I am finished with the laundry so that the interior of the machine can dry out. It takes an extra couple of minutes, but it is well worth it to protect my investment (these appliances aren't cheap!)
