My little LG VX5400 does what I need it to.

I got this phone as a prepaid phone from Verizon. It is very easy to set up and compact enough to put into your pocket. It has a front display that you can tap one of the buttons on the side to see the time easily. You can take pictures on the phone as well (but you need good light). You can take pictures with the display shut and with the front display by holding in the camera button until it comes up. It's easy to put in contacts and to call/text people. It's a very very simple phone. The battery seems to last a long time as well. It's been on constantly since I got it and I never even charged it the full way up. It's been about 4 days. If you put the volume up too loud though, it can sound like a cassette or broken up because it is a cheaper phone. You can personalize your phone really easily and set ringtones and pictures for all of your contacts. You can put pictures on your front screen and on the main screen. It is also bluetooth capable.

Great Phone

Phone performs well takes good pictures have not had problems with reception I love the bluetooth it is my first time using bluetooth. I have been surprised at how easy it is to use and so much better to use while I am driving. I will never have any phone without bluetooth in the future. A small price for the safety  it provides. This phone has outstanding battery life. I do not feel the need to have a car charger while I am traveling.

The most average cell phone you could have

The LG VX-5400 cell phone works with the Verizon wireless network.  When we upgraded our family plan in July 2008, this phone was available free, so we took advantage.  If you're looking for a basic, no frills tiny phone, this would work for you.  The camera isn't that great, and it has little memory.  It can hold 100 incoming texts, and 100 sent texts, much less pictures, though.  It is bluetooth compatable, which is good for the car.  It also has internet, but for .99 a day extra. I think the best thing about this phone is it's size.  It's very compact, so it fits in lots of pockets, but because of it's size, I have misplaced it several times!

I love it, but you might lose it

I absolutely love this cell phone!  I received this phone as a gift last year, and I absolutely love it. The day after I got this, I went outside and proceded to drop it on the ground.  It bounced four times.  It's surprisingly durable; there were only a few scratches. The outside screen has a chic and shiny appearance, and the gray coloring looks pleasantly blue in some light. The camera doesn't have a flash, but when used in ample light, it really does take great pictures, better than most camera phones. The software is a little old; this phone came out right before Verizon came out with the new version of software, but it is still nice and pleasant to look at. When listening to sound, the quality is great, especially if it is a ringtone. If you like to keep your phone in your back pocket, you might want to be aware that this phone has a rounded shape, so it does slip out easily.  I would recommend using a cell phone holder to keep from losing it or dropping it (in the toilet). The only problem I've had is with typing in numbers.  I set it so that the numbers would be big when you typed them in, but I decided I didn't like it, and went to change it back to "small." To this day, the numbers still type in "large."  (This may be because I dropped it.) Overall, this phone has great service, the screen is bright, durable and is not ugly looking. It's a great buy!

Really HATE this phone!

1

Unfortunately, this is my current cell phone because my other cell phone took a swim in the pool. We were not able to buy a new phone, at the time, so we had to use this old stinky one! I cannot express how much I dislike this phone! I understand that it is old, but the batter lasts less than a day (with not a whole lot of use) and it randomly just turns off in the middle of calls or really any old time it wants to! It is extremely frustrating to reach for your cell phone and find that either the battery has died when you just fully charged it or that it has turned off completely and you have to either turn it on again (which takes much longer than it needs to, by the way!) or that you have totally missed calls because you did not realize it had turned off. I could not be more dissatisfied with this phone and would never recommend it to anyone! I cannot wait until we are able to replace it!

Good basic phone

I've had my LG phone for over a year and a half now. I don't need a fancy phone, just one that will make calls and do minimal texting. The camera is a nice bonus, but it's not the highest quality phone available. Of course this was a free phone when I started my service with Verizon. It has served me well, stays charged for 2-4 days depending on my usage. I picked this phone because I like the slightly raised keys, so I could dial or text by feel if necessary. I like the Bluetooth capabilities, although sometimes I can't figure out the headset... This phone has also held up well with entertaining my three preschoolers. It has been dropped, grabbed, chewed on, and fought over with no issues. My only complaint along those lines is that it does not have a "key lock" feature, so they do make phone calls if they get a hold of it. Overall, I really like the phone, and I'm not even sure I'll replace it when my "New in Two" rolls around.

Great Basic cell phone.

This cell phone is a great entry level cell phone.  It may not have any bells and whistles of the current cell phones, but if you are strictly interested in a cell phone for the purpose of making calls, you won't be dissappointed.  The phone is sturdy and compact enough to keep in your jeans pocket.  Along with a verizon service plan, the reception is excellent.  My phone is over two years old, and I am still on the original battery.  The battery charges in a short period of time (a few hours) and holds its charge for about five to seven days without use.  You can talk on the phone for three plus hours without worrying about your battery life.  I have had several different cell phones prior to this one, but strongly recommend this phone.  As far as the reception, it is more to do with the provider, Verizon, than the phone itself.  But you can hear voices clearly and people on the other end can hear you fine as well.  Overall, an excellent phone!!

LG phones are practical and long-lasting!

4

I love LG phones. I have had 2 different LG phones in the past 4 years. I liked it so much the first time that I just had to stick with it for my 2nd phone. The LG VX4500 is very practical if you don't want all the bells and whistles of a smartphone. I just need my phone to make calls. I have my computer if I need the internet (although LG makes excellent smart phones as well). The VX5400 has the capability to text, has a camera phone, and has BlueTooth capabilities. There are many other features of a standard phone that the VX5400 has, and I love that. The menu is easy to move around. I like that this phone is a flip phone so I won't accidently hit buttons while the phone is in my pocket. This phone also has a spot for those phone keychains, which is a nice plus (I don't know if most phones today have that, but I don't think it was as common here in the states as it was in Japan a few years ago). As most phones, I can customize the appearance of my screens with pictures that I take or download, and can change the theme colors. This allows me to make the phone my own while still staying simple and practical.

Simple, but all I need

OK, so I'm an old fogie.  I don't care.  I just want a phone that reliably makes and receives calls.  Any extras are just that, extra.  Not that I haven't used a couple of them, but if you're app'd out, this is a good, quality phone - minus the huge number of bells and whistles. I like this phone because it's small, but not ridiculously small.  I can still see and hit the individual numbers.  It does have internet access, text capability, but no camera or video.  It's not a QWERTY keyboard either.  I like the speakerphone capability and voice dialing. I can hear clearly on this phone and, using Verizon Wireless, I don't ever remember having a dropped call or being unable to connect, wherever I am.  I can roam anywhere around or out of town, inside or outside buildings and always stay connected. Don't expect to impress anybody with this phone.  I don't even have a fancy ringtone or ringback on it, though that's possible.  It won't do fancy tricks or make your coffee, but it WILL give you a simple, quality phone if that's all you need.

Best basic phone you could ever have

5

I have had this phone for over a year now and not a single problem.  It has been rained on, dropped and rolled around not one single hic-up.  I have always ha LG phones, but this is the best by far.  If you are looking for a basic cell phone with some small extras like camera, calendar, alarm clock, this is the phone for you.
