LG - VX-8300 Cell Phone Review Summary

One alternative to the many high- priced phones on the market is the LG VX8300 Cell Phone. This phone offers many of the same multimedia capabilities of other more expensive phones and it is liked by its reviewers for its compact size, durable construction, long battery life, and download functionality. The LG VX8300 Cell Phone is an “Easy to Use, Quality Phone with Extra Media Applications”. But some complaints have been voiced about the LG VX8300 Cell Phone, and the most frequent among them has been the phone’s sound quality and the fact that the consumer must purchase many extra items, like a memory card. Add up everything and you have a good Cell Phone that will satisfy most but not all consumers.

I've had the LG VX-8300 flip phone for about 2 years now. Verizon Wireless is my cell phone provider and I plan on keeping it that way. Their service is almost always reliable. My LG phone has been dropped, beaten and even rained on. Yet, it's still kicking. Sure, it's not fancy or all that cool looking...... review »

This phone sounded great on paper. Nice camera, plays music with VCast, has music controls on the front panel, normal keypad which is easy to text with, stereo speakers etc...

Unfortunately, it is not as great as it sounds. The sound quality is bad both on the speakers and for other people trying to...

Having worked in the cell phone industry for the past 3 years I can honestly say that there is not a phone out there today that is as reliable and efficient as the LG 8300.  If you are in the market to purchase a phone I'd highly recommend considering this phone for several reasons:

1.  The phone has all of the bells and whistles you need at an affordable price.  The phone can play/download music, take pictures, record videos, access the internet, and is VZNavigator capable.

2.  The battery life is exceptional.  It seems that the more exciting phones get the one thing that the manufacturers...

The LG VX8300 is very easy to operate.  It is full featured in that it is not just a cellular phone but it has a flash included with the camera and can record fifteen second video clips.  Verizon has an online photo album which can store your photographs, video clips and sound bytes.  With the online rebate offer made by Verizon, the cell phone was free.

A few of my friends and I have this cellphone and it's cool how we've customized our settings to our personalities by way of front displays, wallpapers, ringtones, etc.

It's pretty easy to navigate through the menu.

Here are some highlights:

TOOLS:
-Voice Commands
-Calendar (with reminder alarms)
-Alarm Clock (3 different clocks)
-World Clock
-Notepad
-Calculator
-Ez Tip Calculator

MESSAGING:
Easy to send text and image texts with sound.  In regular text, you can add graphics, animations, sound, or quick text.  You can also set-up a signature.

CONTACTS:
-Up to 99 speed dial settings
-Can make group lists...

This is a great little phone and is a surprising improvement over the model that it replaced! My not quite 2 year old LG phone "died" 2 months before I was due to replace it so I headed for the Verizon store for help. They very kindly let me upgrade at the time (after examining my deceased phone to check for "user error"!) and I headed right over to the flashy new, copper-colored KRAZR that I had been coveting. Yes, I admit it, I am somewhat like a raven when it comes to cell phones- I'm drawn to the bright colors as if by some internal pull! Many phones were "on sale" and I spent about an hour...

I had an LG VX4500 and I LOVED that phone!  So, when it came time to upgrade LG was the way to go - or so I thought.  First I looked at the Chocolate - the new version is GREAT, but it wasn't out yet - the old version not so much - too hard to navigate, and my niece had one and had problems with it.  So I looked at the others available.  I am a Verizon Wireless customer and the salesperson said the VX8300 was the way to go (more about the sales people later).  It looked a lot like the 4500 so I went for it.  I should mention that my 4500 fell down an elevator shat - 4 stories! - a few scratches...

The LG VX-8300 is a very good phone at a reasonable price.

The built-in camera function is convenient for when you don't have a digital camera or have not brought one with you.  Also, the many features of this phone are very nice.

You can write yourself notes/memos, use the events calendar to keep track of your appointments and various gatherings, speed-dial or voice-dial anyone in your contacts list, and even personalize your ringtones and wallpapers.

If you like to listen to music while on the go, the built-in mp3 storage/playback system is just the thing. I haven't used this feature myself, so...

The LG VX-8300 phone has been the most trouble free, dependable cell phone I have had yet!  I was pleased with the prior Samsung, but this one has really been great!  The Bluetooth has been fun, works well with my Chrysler U-Connect as well as the Bluetooth Phone in our Toyota Prius.  My Jabra earpiece also connects easily and works with the LG phone simply.  The camera performs well, but I do not transfer pictures via email with my phone.  I use a real camera for that, but the phone is fun for temporary photos.  I like the speakerphone feature, and the sound quality is top rate.  The ringers... review »

This is my second cell phone.  My first phone was discontined shortly after I bought it three years ago.  I got this phone and two others free when I renewed my Verizon contract for two years.  Didn't care for the instruction manuals.  I found it faster to play with the phone to learn how to use it.  Then I had to teach my brother and mother how to use their's.

This is  a good phone for us.  We don't need all the bells and whistles that are so popular today.  Our main goal is to have a reliable phone with good reception available for use 24 hours a day for safety and convenience.  There...

My husband and I purchased our cell phones through our local Verizon store.  The sales clerk was very helpful when we were deciding which phones to pick out.  I work in an office so durability was not a big deal.  But I have dropped my phone several times and it still continues to work as well as the day I bought it.  Now my husband is a laborer and we have had problems with his.  It seems the microphone becomes detached or something but Verizon was able to give us a different phone after a year without any hassle.  Now again he is very very hard on his phones so he maybe this phone wasn't...

The LG VX-8300 is one of the better cell phones I've ever owned. It is compact but not too small that it's fragile or easy to lose. The sound quality and volume of its speakers is great for its size. The interface is somewhat customizable and very easy to use relative to some other phones I've used or owned previously. Considering how many times I've dropped my phone, it is remarkable how good of a condition it's in. The only problems I have with this phone is that even though it is somewhat small, it's a bit heavy. It also has several buttons on the outside of the phone that are too easily pressed... review »

I am a single mother of a toddler.  She loves to pretend that she is talking on my cell phone, which is one of the reasons I really like this phone.  It's been dropped and thrown numerous times and it's still going strong.  The camera on the phone is pretty good quality for being on a cell phone.   The flix part of the camera works pretty good except you have to be in a lighted area to get a good video because the flash doesn't come on when you start recording.  My only complaints with the phone are that the battery isn't the best (it's still better than my old phone though!) and it doesn't... review »

I have been fairly happy with this phone. The only drawbacks are: 1-I cannot save my contacts to the memory card I purchased for the phone, which was one of the reasons for getting it, and 2- for some reason it seems to shut itself off at times for no apparent reason. I am actually happy I got it when I did because I recommended it to my sister who was looking for a new phone and I got one of the last ones before they went to the new version which she had to get and I don't like hers as much as mine. Hers has an internal antennae which could be helpful to the durability of the phone but it didn't...

The LG VX8300 is remarkably durable. It has been through so much, from dropping it on the ground five times a day to having my dog chew on it. And all the while it has been in near perfect condition less the minor cosmetic scratches (too bad it doesn't have mircrochip for every time I lose it.) I have lost my phone several times and each time go back to buying this one. While it is much larger than the Razr, it has a much better reception level and battery life. I can text over 150 messages and talk for over two hours a day and never have a problem with it dying on me. The camera works well, and... review »
