LG - VX-8300 Cell Phone —

Having worked in the cell phone industry for the past 3 years I can honestly say that there is not a phone out there today that is as reliable and efficient as the LG 8300.  If you are in the market to purchase a phone I'd highly recommend considering this phone for several reasons:

1.  The phone has all of the bells and whistles you need at an affordable price.  The phone can play/download music, take pictures, record videos, access the internet, and is VZNavigator capable.

2.  The battery life is exceptional.  It seems that the more exciting phones get the one thing that the manufacturers fail to take into account is the battery life.  The 8300 is a phone that when fully charged a heavy phone user can expect to go 2 days until the battery is dead.

3.  It's very durable.  If you're someone who drops your phone a ton this may be the phone for you.  I'm an extremely active person and wherever I go my phone goes.  Unfortunately I'm one of these people and while may LG 8300 has a few nicks on the outside the phone it has never had any functionality issues despite some really serious drops.  I also use my phone to record distance and listen to music when I run.  With a couple of phones I had in the past the sweat from my hand while I was running caused water damage to the phone and I had to replace it.  This has not happened to my LG 8300 and I've ran close almost 150 miles with it thus far.

Overall Verizon Wireless does not currently have a phone on the market that I would carry other than this phone.  If you are in the market to purchase, the phone manufacturers run specials on off setting months.  If the LG 8300 is not on sale when you go to purchase the phone give it a month or two and it will be at some point during that time period.

I haven't heard the "Slats" moniker in 40 years. but I agree with your assessment of the 8300. Had one for a year. Don't use all the bells & whistles, but doesn't drop calls, has a speakerphone, which I use constantly until SOMEONE decides that cell phones don't fry brains), and being hard of hearing, the humongous double speakers are a godsend. Also the design of them strengthens the hinge.

I am almost sure this is the one my son and I have. We both have 1 gig memory cards and he uses his constantly. I lost mine in the house about 2 weeks after I got it. DOH. My son's takes great pics and video and the music sound quality is pretty good as is the voice sound. Now, if I could just fine mine...
