Very durable

4

I have this CU720 phone (or LG shine) from AT&T for about two years. I had this phone unlocked and was using it under the T-mobile network. I do not treat my phones very nicely (I break phones very quickly) and this phone was very durable as I dropped it countless times. The camera (2 megapixel) has pretty good quality and also has a flash built into it, which is very useful when I want to take picture in the dark. The operating system is easy to use with the manuals. However, the bluetooth connection on the phone will only work with wireless bluetooth headsets, and I did not have success in using bluetooth for data transfer. The battery life for this phone is decent, I have to charge it every couple of days. It also charges up fairly quickly (a day usually). A downside to this phone is that it wont support Asian characters.

Ive had my LG Shine for almost 6 years & never a problem.

What can I say?  It is a little outdated at this point... Ive had it for almost 6 years & Ive never had an issue with it.  Ive dropped it * it has never fallen apart.  Ive used the internet, email, texting, videos, mp3 and all of the features work great.  My 9 year old has used it & it's still in great shape.  I still have the original battery & works great.  simple, durable little phone.

One of the better phones I've had

4

I got this phone as a replacement for my iPhone 3G, which abruptly stopped working.  Of about 10 phones I've owned, this is my second favorite.  I don't have a need for much more than text messaging and phone calls, so I've only used the more basic functions of the phone.  The call quality is always good and it gets a signal in areas where my iPhone never had one.  The keys can be annoying at times when texting because of how small they are.  I was happy to see that the texts are arranged in a conversation style, which makes it much easier to have conversations by texts.  I was also surprised by the battery life - it lasted around 4 days when I got it, and a year and a half later still lasts up to 3 days.  My biggest issue is with some of the buttons on the front.  Some of them bring up something which transfers data, such as the internet browser, app store, etc.  It seems to happen on its own sometimes, too.  There's been a few times when I left my phone in my car at work, and came out to find the browser open.  This is a real hassle considering I don't have a data plan.

You could do better...

My husband and me both bought this phone about two years ago. At first we thought it was a great phone but it quickly started to fall apart. You can't see the screen in sunlight at all. My husband doped it phone and the back fell off and won't go back on, so now if he drops it the battery will fall out too sometimes. My phones joystick has stopped working and won't let me move it around on the menu or checking my email online. Sometimes it has also started to malfunction where I would hit a number button and the phone would act like I was hitting ten buttons at once. It also shuts off randomly during phone calls or just whenever. My husbands phone seems to hold a charge for awhile, but mine will only last half a day or so before it starts flashing low battery. The camera is nice and it has a flash that helps take photos in low light, but when the phone goes to low battery it won't let you load the camera or see texts that have photos in them.

The LG shine last the SHINE

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about my  LG Shine is that its  like a portable mirror for anyone to use  but its a bit too small to see through. The conveniences of  this phones features are great but it lacks what a Droid can do and my current phone I want to obtain. This phone's features are really simplistic from the phone book to the Java games it  supports, This phone however cant be modded. In  my experience you cannot change your ring tone to a  custom mp3 no matter how hard you try. But however you  can change the ring-tone to something else thats lower then the  given amount of memory the ringtone it  can be. From the two years that I've had this phone is that its 70% durable, why? because if you get it wet even a little the sound quality can worsen permanently. The battery on the phone itself is decent but does not last long after vibrating for a little while. In conclusion if you want a decent yet not high end phone get this one since it also has a okay 2MPIX camera.

Great if you like watching the scenery around you on the screen.

Overall, this is a good phone. It's not extraordinary, but it functions fine and has okay calling quality and text-messaging ability. It has a great voice command tool that I use regularly when i'm too lazy to actually search for a contact or number. It has a very convenient mirror when the screen turns black, for any ladies who want to quickly check their appearance. This feature is also a bit annoying, though, because outside, it is very hard to read anything on the screen since the mirror projects everything around you. Inside, however, it is not a problem. I've had this phone for two years and the slide still works perfectly fine, very smooth and all. I'v dropped, stepped on, thrown, and even sat on this phone and it only has a few scratches. I've also dropped it in the bath-- it still functions fine. A downside I could mention is the inbox capacity for text messaging. You can only hold 160 (i think it was 160, it might be something around that) text messages including your sent messages. You cannot receive any more until you delete your old ones, which is annoying.

Decent little phone with neat options but horrible battery

When my wife first got this phone she absolutely loved it. She was impressed by the features and how heavy and durable the phone felt. She loved the shiny mirror on the front that instantly turned into an LCD screen. To her suprise however within 12 hours this phone needed to be recharged. She was somewhat disturbed that she couldnt go a full 24 hours without recharging it. She doesnt talk on the phone non stop or anything and the phones battery just would not hold a charge for long. We tried calling LG and were told that this is just how these phones are and that they use alot of battery life. I highly doubt I would recommend this phone to a friend because cellphones need to have plenty of battery life in the event of an emergency. I honestly expect her to not use this phone the full lenght of our contract because the battery issue is so frustrating. She will probably just revert to one of our old phones that we have saved as a back up. Other than the major battery problem this is an excellent phone with an expandable memory slot (MicroSD).

LG Shine Is Not All That Bright

This phone was great in the beginning.  I really enjoy the sleek design.  It wasn't overly complicated and it had a lot of useful tools and features that I use daily.   The problem I started having with the phone though is that it shut off on its on repeatedly, which is very frustrating.  I'd send someone a text message and would be awaiting their reply....and waiting...and waiting...and waiting.   I'd wonder why they hadn't written back yet, only to discover after all that time the phone had shut off!!  So I turn the phone back on (and it takes FOREVER to boot up) and the texts I was awaiting were there in queue.   Not only is this frustrating, but it's dangerous.   If I needed to make a call quickly in an emergency, only to find that the phone had randomly powered off, I'd be in trouble having to wait for the phone to boot back up again. It seems to shut off when you slide the phone closed - that should NOT happen.  I took the phone to the AT&T store and they thought it was a SIM card issue or something.  So they gave me a new SIM.   That didn't fix the problem, so i took the phone back again.  This time they replaced it with a new phone. The new phone had the same issue - and it gets worse as the phone ages.  Sometimes, even if the phone gets bumped around in my purse or I toss it onto the couch, the phone will just power off.  I can't wait to get a new one.  I know this isn't the latest model or anything, but it wasn't that expensive and I really liked the design and style of the phone.  It's a shame that it has that power off problem.

The LG CU720 is the worst phone ever.

2

The LG CU720 is the worst phone, I have ever owned. I like the design of it, but the signal coverage is terrible. I have been with AT&T for about 6 years, no problem with coverage. Then, I get this phone still with AT&T there is hardly any coverage. The camera is suppose to be a 2MP, but is in a terrible picture. There is hardly any features to correct the picture. I hate this phone.

The LG Shine (cu720) is a great overall phone.

I am super excited to write a review on the LG Shine, model cu720.  I have owned and operated this cell phone for six months now.  The screen on the phone, once the backlight has completely gone out, serves as a functional mirror.  That of which is great for the ladies wanting to check out their make-up.  This is one of the features that attracted my attention to begin with.  This "slider" phone is great because of the large memory load it has.  It holds approximately 2 GB without a memory card.  The camera on this phone is 2 megapixel and takes great pics.  The camera is equipped with flash, options to edit photos, video and a timer, great for taking pics of yourself.  I would likely recommend this phone to anyone who does frequent web browsing.  I am glad that I chose this phone because of its sleek design and funtionabilty.
