Helped out in my basement

4

On the second day living in my new rental, the basement flooded. it was my fault really in this story is too long to go into so I won't. Ever since, even though we did dry everything out, the basement always seemed extremely humid. I try to use as a home office, but because of the humidity I could barely work. That's where this item came in. I did a lot of reviews, and like the air conditioners they reviewed as well, LG seem to be one of the top brands I can find. I picked this up from Home Depot. It was a bit expensive, but I think it was worth it. It took buckets and buckets of water out of the air. I like the fact that the onboard controls allowed you to set the humidity level that you would like to keep. The basement was a larger area, so unfortunately I wasn't able to keep the exact level that I wanted, but it came very close. I guess one thing to keep in mind is to always take a look at the recommended room size for the product. I guess if I had noticed that before I would've picked a bigger unit. One thing to mention no, my electric bill definitely one up with this item. I decided to only use it about an hour and a half before I wanted to go to the basement, while I was in the basement, and then shut it off. I didn't keep it on all times. Because when I dated, my electric bill was ridiculous. However, from my understanding, this is normal for this type of product. One thing I would like to see, a remote. Other than that, excellent dehumidifier.

Definitely Does the Job

Let me just say I didn't even know we had a problem with humidity in our house. We have a uniquely-shaped raised ranch, and our bedroom is on the lower level which is at least half underground, so in essence we sleep in the basement. There's always a big temperature difference between the top level and lower level, but being cooler in the bedroom definitely works. After a lot of rain the past week, and our sump pump running often, my husband noticed it was really damp and uncomfortable for him. He decided to get a dehumidifier, and with our luck with our recent LG dryer purchase, we decided to stick wth the brand, and he bought an LG Dehumidifier, Model #LD450EAL. While I didn't notice it was getting too damp downstairs, I definitely notice the results. Just in four days, we've dumped the filled reservoir three times, and it's a 45 pint dehumidifier. It's doing it's job. It does feel much more comfortable downstairs, even though it wasn't uncomfortable to begin with, meaning my hsuband is even more comfortable. It is a little on the noisy side, but being in the bedroom, that low hum kind of lulls you to sleep. And besides, I sleep with my iPhone music and headphones in anyway (drowns out a certain someone snoring). I wouldn't have ever thought a dehumidifier could be this high tech. This LG dehumidifier features two fan speeds, defrost control, an automatic humidistat, and an automatic shutoff when the reservoir fills up. This reservoir is easily emptied. And if you don't want to do it by hand regularly, there's a hookup included where you can set it to drain out in a sink. You don't need to worry about leaving it running, as when the reservoir fills up, it shuts off and tells you it's full, as well as displaying that it's OFF on the LCD screen. One thing I've noticed is that it does make the bedroom a little warmer. However, it was already very cool, sometimes too cool, so overall it's more comfortable as it's not too cold and damp on top of it. It makes it perfect for damp, cold basements, but perhaps wouldn't be as good in other areas of the house. I would not want it upstairs where it's warmer and where I don't want the noise.
