6-Year Review

2

In 2010, we purchased a new LG W/D set (with stands) from the local big box store here in Scottsdale, AZ and there are three members of the HH. Normal activity is 4-5 loads per week. Washer model WM2277HS for those curious. Pros: Nice styling, energy efficient, water efficient, higher spin rates than a traditional top-load washer and the ability to heat water. Cons: We have experienced five issues in six years (unreliable), cannot use the higher spin rates on towels, rugs, or small loads as the machine will jerk badly and start walking across the floor, less water, only one year warranty for most parts. Details: We have now had the fifth break in five years and I am frustrated after speaking with LG Service. In order: motor sensor, lower housing, machine drain pump, heating element, and now the drain pump again! Thoughts: A washing machine should be worry free for ~20 years plus, and I am of the mindset that more water leads to cleaner clothes (within reason). I would agree that if you can spin the clothes faster thereby reducing the amount of retained moisture... the drying time is less and this is a good feature. Simply put, I paid more for the LG W/D set than I would have for a conventional set believing that LG makes good equipment and these should be 'of better design'... they are simply NOT. LG front loaders are fine when they work, but this has not been my experience. Hopefully yours is better.

My LG front loading washer can handle a lot of clothes!

5

I've had my front load LG washer for about 8 years now. I have really liked it for the most part and think it is a pretty good product. I definitely can put a lot more in one load and can wash blankets, comforters, sleeping bags and rugs without having to go to the Laundromat. You get a better performance if you don't overload though. My laundry gets nice and clean and is unbelievable free of much water when it is done. My machine has a stain cycle which I've used on occasion and have been pleased with the result. The only bummer is that you can't soak really dirty clothes in the machine for a period of time - like overnight. When I look to replace this one I will look for that feature, which I am thinking might not work for a front loader. So, next time I might buy the top loading machine that doesn't have the spinner inside. The machine itself has held up pretty well. We did have to have service on it a couple of times - once to replace some lines, and once because the pump got all frozen when we were moving during the winter. It does get smelly from time to time so I drain it and clean it with a cycle of hot water and white vinegar. The gaskets in the door area also get slimy and gross - another reason I might get a top loader next time. I do recommend that you buy an extended service plan through the store where you buy it. Repairs are very costly! Be aware that different store vary GREATLY on the cost and features of their service plans so do your research before you buy! Overall, a good purchase for us. Energy Efficiency Seems to take less time, fewer loads and the laundry is spun very dry.

Got Kids? Got Pets? You need this machine!

This washing machine is awesome for getting out stains. How do I know? My former washing machine broke in the middle of potty training! Ick! It is quiet and very energy efficient. After replacing my the washer and dryer that came with our house the water bill and electric bill were both drastically reduced in price. It does need a month cleaning with borax and vinegar. Also wipe out the seal to prevent the typical front loader stink . Energy Efficiency This drastically lowered my electric bill and water bill. Cleaning Time I am comparing to a set from the early 90s or possible 80s, so there is a big difference! Performance This machine has a heavy stain cycle and all of my 5 year olds clothing looks like new. Ease of Use Great ! Though someone should warn you that it plays music when it is done. I searched my entire house for a week trying to figure out what was playing music! Design I do wish that the drawer or stands came with the machines. they are low to the ground. Durability I have only had it two years. I hope it lasts as long as other appliances have lasted.

The energy saver

4

This washing machine is a step up from some of the other front loading washers on the market.  This has all the bells and whistles of others, but I have found that it has a shorter cycle than some.  This, to me, is where the energy saving comes into play.  Other machines can take so long just to do one load of clothes.   First of all, the door is very tight-locking, unlike others I have used of similar style.  You can fill the tub to capacity with clothes being fully washed and fresh when they are finished.  The spin cycle is great and is quiet.  The clothes come out without the wetness from old washing machines.  If you wanted, you could hang them up to finish drying in a short amount of time, especially sweaters and other delicates.   The dispensers for fabric softener and bleach are in a tray so there is no waiting for the cycle where you have to run back and pour fabric softener in. I am very happy with this item and would buy it again, although it seems that it is made well and would not need replaced anytime soon!

LG surprised me

4

I was told not to buy a LG washer but I decided to do it any way. I was surprised that LG contacted me right away and offered advise and made sure I was satisfied. I love the sanitize setting. With two dogs and three kids I use it often. I highly recommend this washer. There is a little work to it you need to clean the inside on a special wash setting at least once a month. Personally I find it great because I know my washer is clean.

This washer is so easy to use even my husband uses it.

Late last year, our washer was sadly diying, so we decided that we needed to look for a new one. When we checked out the stainless LG front load washer, my husband liked it immediately. We both liked the color and it had a great sale price on it. So we bought it and havent regretted it since. It is energy efficient and so quite when it is running. It has the softest little tingle when it is finished. The clothes are absolutely as clean as anything when we take them out of the washer. They look almost new. So far we havent seen any of the colors or whites seem to fade. I like the front loader. Its so much better than the one we had before with an agetator. The tub has a large capacity to it and has so many settings to use for any load.

Excellent front-loading washer

I purchased a LG DLG59660G model about two years ago, and am very happy with it. It washes all my loads, from the small to the large, and self-adjusts to the correct amount of water usage. I only use about three of the eight auto-settings, but almost always use the manual setting buttons. They are quick to use and easy to view. We ended up building a stand to put it on (the store-bought ones were just too pricey), which I recommend for easy access- you can make a stand out of wood for a quarter of the price of the two stands needed for the washer and dryer. On another note, we were pleasantly surprised by the little tune that it plays when a load is complete! The downfalls of this machine are normal for this type of machine- I have to wipe down the door and leave it open for a few hours after I am done, or I get smelly mold (common for all front-loaders). Another criticism is that completing a load takes longer than my old top-loading machine.

LG WM2130C Front Loader Washing Machine

We bought this model a few months ago for an apartment we just moved into. The machine has wash cycles for just about any type of load you could throw at it. Only one that I noticed missing that may be a factor for some is the hot/warm cycle, but for us it was not a deal breaker.  One cycle I did see for the first time on a washer is the tepid cold/cold cycle, which I've used several times with decent results.  The machine adjusts the wash cycle time accordingly based on the load size as well as the amount of water it uses; both nice features. It also includes features such as a quick wash cycle (which can be very handy if you need work clothes in a hurry) and adjustable soil levels in case some loads need to be more thoroughly cleaned then normal. The machine is designed specifically to take high efficiency (he) detergent and softener, so be sure to pay attention when at the store.  All in all, a very good machine for a reasonable price.

This Machine is Wonderful!

I got this washing machine over a year ago now and I have absolutely loved it!  It has so many different wash settings on it that really come in handy such as Cotton, Normal, Delicates, Permanent Press and Hand-wash, plus you can change the water temp and soil level depending on what clothes you are washing.  This is a great feature when you have kids that are constantly spilling on themselves!  This machine is so easy to use that even my seven year old can run it!  There isn't too much you have to do as far as maintenance goes, but if you ever get any detergent buildup on the tub or the door, this machine has a self cleaning feature on it so you can get rid of any buildup by the touch up a button.  I have to admit that I was a little nervous about buying this product at the beginning after hearing mixed reviews, but I can gladly say this washing machine has been a great investment.  I have never had any issues with it and I would definitely recommend buying the LG Front Loading Washing Machine to anyone!

Very Frustrating Washing Machine!

1

The LG WM2688HNM Tromm HE front loading steam washing machine was one of the worst purchases I have ever made.  It does not clean clothes any better than the top loading, though I'll allow it is more gentle on your garments.  The only reason I wanted the steam was to take the wrinkles out of 100% cotton fitted sheets; but they advise you not use the steam on 100% cotton.  You cannot pause the machine and open it to put in a garment you forgot or that you didn't want washed as long as the others; it has a lock that cannot be bypassed, even if you are only using cold water and don't choose the "extra water" feature on the gentle cycle.  It makes no sense.  Worst of all, the letters are all wearing off so pretty soon I won't know which button does what (there are 9 buttons and 4 of them have 2 functions, depending on whether you are in "pause" or "wash" mode, so it is a lot to memorize!) I also don't like the dual purpose feature of the buttons... I can't tell you how many times I've tried to turn on the light to see inside and have the machine switch to rinse and spin and drain all of the water when I just started a load!  Frustrating!  :[
