LG - Chocolate Clamshell VX8600 Cell Phone Review

Verizon rep sold me on this phone based on its rep for quality when compared to the Motorola Razr.  I had been looking to purchase a Razr when my contract was up to get a new phone, but the rep said they had been getting a lot of Razrs back with problems, and not many of the LG VX8600 phones were coming back.  I also liked that the phone has a bit more of a stylish look than the Razr w/ its sleek black style.  However, if you don't keep the phone in a case, it's very prone to scratches and fingerprints... hence, mine is a bit sratched here and there with normal wear.   

However, my chief complaint is about the reception and quality of phone calls.  I can be in a full service calling area, and still have crappy reception.  Seldom do I have full service when someone else w/ the same calling service has it.  The phone reception is rather poor.  And if you are on a call, you can barely hear who you are talking to.  The person on the other line sounds very muffled.  After speaking with another person who has this same phone, I was also told that if you are speaking to someone who has the same phone as you, forget about being able to communicate b/c the call is muffled from both ends.   I was very disappointed with this phone's overall performance.  

It does, however, take very good pictures... but it's meant to be a cell phone, not a camera.  So next time, I think I'll just go back to taking my chances with Motorola... I've never had a problem with that brand with the exception of a camera piece falling off when the phone was starting to age.  That phone still worked even after it was dropped in the ocean!  So much for LG being the better brand... LG is not going to be a repeat buy for me!
