A good steam dishwasher
After years of owning a basic white GE Profile dishwasher, I upgraded to this stainless steel LG steam model. I decided to go with the LG brand after recently buying an LG washing machine and dryer that I've been pleased with. The dishwasher is much quieter than my previous model was and I like the extra capacity it has with 3 loading trays. The steam feature does a great job cleaning dishes and I recommend using that to wash every load. I also like the interior light which makes it easy to see during loading & unloading. It also plays a pretty musical melody to signal when the cleaning cycle is complete. The main drawback to this model is the door which apparently wasn't made with a strong enough hinge to keep the door up when it isn't closed all the way. I like to leave my dishwasher slightly open between cycles so odors don't build up inside, but the door on this model ends up falling halfway down. While the machine was still under warranty, I had a repair person come out to adjust the hinge, but it didn't last for long and ended up falling back down to the half-open position again. The only other issue, which has been minor, is the inabiity to see the digital control panel display when the door is closed (because the panel is on the top edge of the door instead of the front). My countertop covers the top view of the door when it's shut and the angle of the digital display can't be read from a horizontal position. Sometimes, it would be convenient to see the remaining time left of the wash cycle when the dishwasher is running.
