LG Plasma rating pretty good but far from the best!

The LG Plasma 50" television is definitely worth customers looking into purchasing but there are some things that do need improvement. Picture Quality The picture quality is excellent but as others have said the glare on the screen from light or sunlight really makes it hard to see the screen. Something people have to realize though is that with a plasma TV you can view the screen from all angles very clearly but with an LCD TV you pretty much have to be right in front of the screen for a clear picture and it gets worse as you view it from an angle. Sound Quality This is the biggest downfall of this LG Plasma. There may be more than one speaker on this TV but they are ALL on the back. In some areas of our living room the TV is so loud that I have to move to a different area but in other parts of the room I can't hear it! Plus the TV is close to the doorway to my kitchen so if someone is watching TV in the living room and I am in the kitchen the TV is extremely loud! I am looking into getting speakers to help the sound be more even! Durability Nothing exceptional but nothing bad so far. Design I like the fact that I can swivel the screen to any angle. This is a plus on this LG Plasma but once again if you move the screen too far the sound is really loud! So once again I am back to the fact that ALL speakers are on the back of this TV so the design could definitley be improved! Performance Good overall but it really does add to an electric bill and I try to keep it off as much as possible!

Gotta love the LG 50 in HDTV

We bought our LG 50 in HDTV about a year ago.  We downgraded from a 65 inch mitsubishi so that first off was quite a shock and very hard to get used to.  But otherwise, the television has been very awesome.  We use U-Verse television and subscribe to the HD channels and usually watch those on our television and the screen quality is amazing on it.   The television itself was actually very easy to assemble.  I could even do it, and I did help my husband put it together.  It only took a few minutes.  The sound quality on it is pretty good, actually better than our old television.  One of the only things that I don't like about the television itself is the fact that if there is any light on in the same room there is an awful glare on the television.  We have our xbox 360 hooked up to our television and my husband said that the screen moves a lot slower than our old television.  It does take up a lot of energy, but there is an energy-saver option that you can set it on.  Other than these cons, the tv is amazing.

First off, I have owned my fair share of plasmas and LCD televisions and hands down, plasma wins. The blacks are way deeper. The picture quality on this plasma is superb. Watching a blu ray on it has caused me to stay home as opposed to go to the movie theatres. You can customize everything on the picture, the settings are endless. The only drawback would have to be the amount of power this sucker eats up. Update: I was watching tv tonight and needed to turn down the volume in order to answer a phone call. After I finished my call, I noticed there was a slight buzzing sound coming from the TV. I turned off my cable box and the sound went away. When I played a movie on my blu-ray player, the sound wasn't there. Seems it only happens when I watch through my cable box. Will probably give LG customer service a call to see if they can get someone to either fix or replace the set. The buzzing is unnoticable once listening volumes are set.
