I've owned my LG 42LE5400 TV for five months and have already had to send it to a shop for repairs twice. The first time, it was because the mainboard was conflicting with the LG blu-ray player I bought with the TV; the TV was getting confused by the signals coming in from the blu-ray player through the HDMI input and it would randomly pull up menu options, switch settings and ultimately freeze. My local repair shop got a new mainboard from LG (after waiting a month for the company to send it - bad customer service on LG's part), and the new board was also defective, keeping the backlight level at 100% and not letting it be adjusted. After two repairs, I still get occasional freezes where the TV locks up and won't even let me turn it off without unplugging it. It's a shame because the picture quality really is quite nice when it works. Colors are crisp and the dynamic contrast ratio really makes pictures pop. But the next time I get an LED TV, it will be a full array set. The 42LE5400 is edge lit, so during dark scenes you can actually see the light coming in from the sides, like small flashlights.

After weeks of searching online and days of comparing TV's in stores, I finally decided on this LG TV and I am thrilled with it.  You get alot for the price.  I  was deciding between a Samsung, Panasonic Vierra and this LG and the LG won hands down.  The nature and sports shows make you seem like you are right there! The color and the clarity is outstanding.  After hours of comparing TV's in the stores I wondered if I made the right choice, but once I got it home and set it up, WOW! I knew I made the right choice.
