Kung Fu Panda —

We actually saw Kung Fu Panda in the theater back when it first came out, but since it was recently released on DVD we had to go and get it and I thought I would review it.

Po (voice of Jack Black) is a big jolly Panda bear who dreams about Kung Fu. Unfortunately his father only dreams of noodles and is hoping that Po will someday find the love of noodles himself and eventually take over the noodle business.

Meanwhile in the village the town master and insightful turtle Oogway (voice of Randall Duke Kim) has decided that it is time to pick a new Dragon Warrior. The Dragon Warrior will take the place of Master Shifu (voice of Dustin Hoffman) who will take on the Oogway's responsibilities as Oogway's life would soon be complete. The new Dragon Warrior would be chosen by the senses of Oogway. He would sense the warrior. A large festival was held as Oogway would sense the next Dragon Warrior. It was thought that one of the Fearsome Five, who were students that master Shifu had personally trained, would be chosen as the Dragon Warrior. The Fearsome Five consisted of: Tigress (voice of Angelina Julie), who was the bravest and most serious of the Fearsome Five, Monkey (Voice of Jackie Chan), Mantis (Voice of Seth Rogan), Viper (voice of Lucy Liu), and Crane (voice of David Cross).

Po idolizes the Fearsome Five, and can't wait to get the festival to see who will be chosen as the next Dragon Warrior. A silly accident causes Po to come in to light in Oogway's eyes, and Oogway senses that Po is the next Dragon Warrior. Although many were certain especially Shifu and the Fearsome Five were sure it was a mistake Oogway reminded them that there were no mistakes. As Po struggled with his new life role, training and getting to know new partners The Fearsome Five and Master Shifu whose main objective was to get Po to quite Oogway has another vision.

Oogway has had a vision that Shifu's once most beloved student and a very powerful fighter who turned evil Tai Lung will escape from prison. When Shifu discovers that the vision has come true, he finds that he the Dragon Warrior is the only hope that the village has. He must now take Po's training seriously, and Po must also take it very seriously as well.

Now the clumsy, food loving Po must now gear up for the battle of his life.

All three kids ages 4 to 12 at the time loved the film, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit myself.  I actually found myself laughing outloud a few times.  Kung Fu Panda has a cute story line, lots of action, and lots of humor.

I recommend Kung Fu Panda for the whole family.
