First and only Tire Blow out

2

I will start out by saying that I did not purchase these brand new. I purchased them used from a privately owned auto shop. They were the cheapest tires I could get while I was living on a budget as a student. Immediately I could tell there was something wrong. My car was always shaking and never felt smooth and I could never drive in a straight line without gripping the wheel. I thought it was the allignment and never thought the tires could be the problem. My car often swerved and felt slippery when driving in the rain. It always made me nervous driving at night. Again, I never thought the problem could be the tires. One day I was driving on a 2 lane road at approximately 45 mph and then I heard a loud pop and almost lost control of the vehicle. When I was finally able to safely pull over and get out of the car I noticed that my entire tire had blown and was torn to shreds. Thankfully I was driving alone and there weren't any other cars behind me. The weather conditions weren't extreme to cause the incident so I can only blame the quality of the tires and would never ever buy them again nor would I recommend them. When it comes to tires, you get what you pay for and you should never compromise your safety and that of others. This is not an item to go cheap on.

Worst tires I have ever purchased

1

I think the Kumho Solus KR21 Tires are the worst brand of tires I have ever bought. When I first purchased a set of four of these several years back, I thought I was getting a great deal. I didn't pay much attention to brands of tires back then. I was more focused on the warranty and expected mileage I would get out of these tires. That has changed since buying these tires. Kumho has terrible service when it comes to the warranty and they don't back up what the warranty promises. When they were first installed onto my car, I thought they were going to be great tires because my car ran smoother and quieter. But as time went on, they slowly deteriorated. I got a flat tire within one year and another tire kept losing the air in it. I didn't get the expected mileage from these tires either. I love a deal, but hate being ripped off. These tires were definitely a terrible deal in the end. I will never purchase Kumho tires again. Next time I will go with the tire shop's recommendation of Goodyear or Firestone. I don't recommend these tires to anyone or for any vehicle. They are junk.

Horrible Tires

3

I had the Kumho Solus KR21 tires on a van I used to own. I bought the tires brand new, and within two weeks, wires were showing on one of the tires. I took them back to where I had bought them, and they replaced it for free. I didn't have anymore problems until about a month later. When I was driving down the road, it felt like I had a flat tire. I pulled over and got out to check my tires. The sound was coming from the front passenger tire, but it didn't look like anything was wrong with it. I check all the other tires, and they were fine also. I kept driving, and I was still feeling the bumping from the tire as if it were flat. I took my car to where I had bought the tires, and they said the tire was fine, so I went to a mechanic. He couldn't find anything wrong with the car, but he rotated the tires. The sound had stopped for about two days, and then it came back. This time, the sound was coming from the back. It wasn't just a sound either. My car literally jumped every couple of seconds. No one could ever figure out what was wrong, but after I bought a different set of tires, it never happened again.

Absolutely worst tire I have ever owned.

1

Kumho Solus tires were factory installed on my 2012 Dodge Journey. With 27,440 miles on them the tread is so worn it is unsafe to drive, especially on wet, icy or snowy roads. This is the the worst tire I have ever owned (been buying tires for 53 years). Had these replaced at Discount Tire, who informed me that they didn't meet Kumho's criteria for warranty credit, but that they were unsafe to drive on. That was also the opinion of my sons and grandsons, so Discount wasn't just trying to sell me new tires. You can bet I did not replace them with Kumhos. These tires were rated for 60,000 miles, have been rotated regularly, checked for air pressure and driven on paved roads. They are just junk tires, with a warranty that is laughable. Warning: Don't buy these tires and if you buy a new car, make the dealer replace them with tires that actually perform the way they are advertised.

Stay Away. Warranty not honored.

1

The problem with this tire is that the manufacturer does not honor it's warranty. I have purchased 5 kuhmo ecsta platinum Lx tires and all have failed within 25000 miles. The treadware warranty is a joke. They give multiple excuses of why the warranty won't be honored such as " we cannot honor the warranty do due to driver habits" . Check out the various complaint boards. The company has a terrible reputation.

Great tire value!

These were put on my '92 Olds 88. I live in the metro Detroit area and haven't experienced the snow or slush with them as of yet. It has been about 3500 miles so far and they are holding up just fine. Heavy rain and water on the road has been no problem at all. My tires are 16 inch.

poor tread wear and even worse customer service from Kumho

1

Purchased 4 new Kumho tires for Pilot recommended at great savings versus the Michelin I was going to use. Recommended by Honda service person. Rotated every 5,000 miles on average. Had 80,000 miles on vehicle when purchased the tires (so Michelin lasted from new vehicle to now.........). Left the shop from having tires on and had SUV aligned since it had not been in some time. The shop there said not out of alignment, so great. Noticed some outside wear on front tires after 10,000 miles or so. Was told by mechanic it needed aligned, so it was done again and found not out of alignment. Had tires balanced and rotated again..... About 2 months ago and about 16,000 miles into the tires (1.2 years) and contacted shop I purchased to check on warranty because entire outside of front tires are flat.....rotated again! Kumho said after I got all the paperwork from where I had them rotated, balanced, air put in (really? I do that myself and don't write myself a receipt!), etc., that I could buy 2 new tires, send them my old and if they decided, they would pro-rate and return a bit of my money. REALLY! Michellin here I come and will stay forever!

Junk Tires - Kumho doesn't honor warranty!

1

85,000 mile warranty is a joke.  At 29k, tires are bald and Kumho says tough, not even giving prorated credit toward new ones.  Purchased at Jack Williams Tire, who rotated every 5K.  They just tried to sell me a new set, claiming Kumho is the bad guy and they are just trying to help me out.  Don't know who is telling the truth, a friend who used to be in the biz says it looks like they may not have rotated as documented, but the tires still shouldn't wear that fast. Never again.
