As a new mom, there is always a search for "The Best Diaper."  You get diapers as gifts, advice from everyone and coupons from just about every brand.  I believe I tried just about every diaper out there - name brand and store brand.  I had found a diaper that I absolutely loved (Kozy Kids - only available online).  But when we needed to cut a few expenses, I learned that the Kroger Ultra Comforts diaper was the same thing, minus the cost and unfortunately the stretch tabs.

For those who may not have a Kroger available, look for an all white diaper with blue/purple colored animals on the top and they are probably the same diaper (not White Cloud though.)  I have since learned that Meijer carres the same design under the name of Whisper Touch.

So why do I LOVE Kroger Ultra Comforts?

Alright of course the first thing is the price.  Ultra Comforts come in similar packages to Name brand diapers (Huggies, Pampers etc...), and of course the larger the size the less diapers you get in a package.  My son is currently in size 4's and this size comes in the following packages; 28 count Mega for $6.99, 46 count Jumbo for $12.99 and the 92 count BOX for $15.99.  I much prefer to purchase the large box as it is clearly the better deal.  Sometimes this size package, in the size 4 is not in stock though.

Next... is the most simple reason I love these... they work.  These diapers absorb a lot and very well.  This tends to increase the amount of time in between diaper changes, which is helpful cause Little Man does not like this process.  We have had leaky diapers during the day (when we waited way too long for a change), but I cannot remember EVER having a leaky diaper in the middle of the night while using these diapers (as opposed to our experience with Huggies).  In addition to the absorption capabilities, my son's skin stays dry helping prevent rashes.  The only time I've ever noticed wet skin is right after he has urinated and it hasn't had time to soak in.  My son has pretty normal skin so I have not noticed any adverse reactions.  On the other side, my sister-in-law, reported her son breaking out in a rash while using the above mentioned Kozy Kids (which are identical diapers).

Now for the design... more and more diaper companies are trying to make a "natural fit" diaper.  If you want that type of diaper, the Ultra Comforts are not for you.  These diapers have a straight design, which I feel provides better coverage of my son's tushie.  The diapers have a soft feel to them and use a Velcro tab to close.  These tabs are very secure and easy to reseal if needed.  Unfortunately, here is my one and only gripe with these diapers.... they do not have the stretch tabs (tabs that can extend almost like a bendy straw) like many other diapers.  We still manage to get a good fit.

Sizing: The sizing for size 4 states they are good for babies 22-28 pounds.  My son started wearing this size a year ago and probably weighed 19-20 pounds.  A few months ago, while still in Ultra Comforts Sz 4, Little Man easily fit in Size 3 Pampers.  A year later and still in size 4's, at 25 pounds, the diapers are starting to get just a bit snug.  New buyers might want to try a smaller package until the proper size is determined.

Did I mention I love these??

Some of the store brands I do not like, but I sure found some great yeast bread rolls at iGA. It's good to check.

I've always had lousy luck with generic brands, go figure LOL! I'm sure these are great. Now you tell me.... ; )

I wish I could have found a store brand diaper that worked! We don't have a Krogers around here.

Great job. I'll have to pass this one on to my daughter who is expecting really soon (what time is it anyway). My youngest, Jenna (10) was so sensitive that she could only wear Huggies Supreme. Again, well done.
