A few weeks ago I saw a commercial for the new Macaroni & Cheese Crackers from Kraft.  The idea somewhat intrigued me so when I was recently perusing the snack cracker aisle at Kroger and I saw them on the shelf I decided to give them a try.

I love Cheez Its and Cheese Nips and basically any kind of cheesy crispy crackers so I figured these would be pretty good.  And since mac & cheese is a favorite food I figured I didn't have anything to lose.  The box stood out from the rest of the snack crackers as it is bright blue and looks very much like the Kraft noodle product found way on the other side of the store so it looked out of place.  What's more, the crackers are shaped like the noodles in Kraft mac & cheese in that they look like little tubes that are slightly curved at the ends.

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Crackers come in three flavors - White cheddar, Mild cheddar, and Cheddar.  I got the mild cheddar which was $3.29 for an 8 ounce box.

The Verdict - we don't really like these crackers.  My husband is not a mac & cheese fan whatsoever so he did not like them at all.  He initially grabbed a handful, ate a few, and threw the rest of the handful out the door for the birds to eat.  I poured myself a small bowl and sat down to munch and found that they are crispy, slightly salted on the outside, and cheesy.  However they honestly taste like noodle.  Yeah, I like mac & cheese but I expected the cracers to be mostly cheesy like a Cheez It but they have a distinct noodle flavor that is kind of weird, unexpected, and not good.  There's also a kind of bitter aftertaste that sticks to the back of my tongue that I don't like.  When it stops raining today I'm giving the rest of the box to the wildlife in my backyard.  We'll see if they like them any better.  2 stars.

Thanks for the head up. I think I'll stick to my Cheez It's also.

My kids love them. I never tried them since I'm not a cheesy cracker, cheese nips kinda gal. :)
