Konga. . . is NOT rated 5 stars because it is a GREAT movie.   It's not quite the opposite however because we do have some excellent emoting from the very talented Michael Gough who is perfectly cast and is one of my favorite mad scientists of all time. (You might recognize Gough who plays Alfred in the Tim Burton Batman movies).

Plot?   He's a botany professor who likes making carnivorous plants.  He finds a monkey named Konga during one of his jungle expeditions and brings him home to London.  Konga grows into a 7 foot gorilla and our professor gets the hairy ape to do some of his dirty work including murder.

Well I won't explain to you everything but one day, through fantastic and ridiculous plot developments, KONGA winds up growing into a huge giant Ape.... and we are talking bigger than Kong, bigger than Godzilla...

The pacing is fast.  Gough's mad scientist is manipulative, smart and without any morals or scruples whatsoever.  He's hissable.

This is a very silly, campy, crazy movie that I've enjoyed many times and still get a huge kick out of.

Enjoy.
