Perfect for chewers

5

I bought 2 of the Kong classic for my 1 year old boxer 45lbs and my 5 year old lab/pit mix 75lbs. They love them. It keeps both of my dogs from chewing on other stuff. It's durable and has not come apart. I put treats and peanut butter in them. They are good to use inside and outside. Not messy at all.

The Only Toy our Golden Retriever Hasn't Destroyed

5

Our Golden Retriever destroys all toys he receives very quickly. This is the only one he hasn't managed to totally rip apart. Our smaller dog loves it too. They have a great time trying to get the treats out of it. It keeps them occupied for hours. They also love it when we put peanut butter in it. Great sturdy toy/activity for dogs.

Stimulating and durable

5

We originally picked up a KONG Classic toy for all three of our dogs to share like they do their other toys. We were quickly back to the store to pick up two more so the dogs each had their own. They love this toy so much they do not want to share, even without the treats inside. The dogs love that this toy bounces well and in random directions, which allows them to stimulate themselves by tossing it and chasing it without our interaction. It did take them a little while to figure out there was a treat inside and once they did they became even more obsessed. They do enjoy the KONG brand treats but I have found that other treats work well inside the KONG Classic as well and aren't quite as expensive or hard to find. All three dogs also enjoy licking peanut butter out of their KONG Classic. My dogs range from 10 pounds to 120 pounds so they each have different sizes which fit their sizes perfectly. Most toys only last a few months around here but the KONG toys are more than 6 months old and show no signs of wear yet. They are well worth the price and I have since purchased other KONG brand toys and have been pleased with them as well.

Your dog will love it

My dog loves her Kong she is a full blooded doberman and she is rough and tough on all of her toys, and she tears up every single one of them up within a matter of hours, with the exception of her Kong, we've had the same one for months and she plays with it all the time but yet, it's still fully intact with the exception of it getting dirty from her rolling it around in the dirt it's as good as new and has given her tons and tons of playtime! I recommend this to any dog owners but especially owners who have a hard time finding a toy that their dog cannot tear up. Also, it's great the many different things you can put into one. It works so well with just about anything, and you can add even peanut butter to it because your dog can get it out. They are more pricey than other dog toys but, it's worth every penny, Kong is also a great for young puppies who love to chew on anything and everything, you can prevent a ton of their chewing with one of these.

Great Durable Toy for Chewers

5

I have a pair of Scottish Terriers that we purchased as puppies. They were terrible chewers and went through quite a few toys. After talking with my veterinarian and at his suggestion I bought two of these Kong toys for them. These toys solved a great deal of our chewing problem. We stuffed them with a bit of peanut butter or treats and they would entertain the puppies for long periods of time. They chewed, chased and licked those Kong toys and not the furniture, cords or anything else they could get those little teeth on. The Kong also make great ball like toys because they bounce. Unlike other dog toys that my dogs shred within days these Kong toys have held up now for almost three years and are still going. They seem to enjoy these toys as adult dogs as much as they did as puppies. They were moderately priced as dog toys go and are available at most stores that sell pet supplies and they are extremely durable. Our dogs love them.

Supposed to keep your dog entertained

4

My dog has separation anxiety, so we are always looking for ways to keep him calm during the day when everyone is away at work. When our veterinarian recommended the Kong Classic, we decided to buy it and give it a try. The Kong is made as a way to keep your pets entertained. There are recipes and treats that you place inside this toy. Your dog is supposed to spend time getting the treat out of the toy. Although this didn't really work to keep my dog entertained during the day it has turned into one of his favorite toys. He uses this more as a chew toy, and he doesn't try to get a treat out of the Kong toy. I think part of that might be he does not have the patience to spend trying to get the treat out of the toy. If your dog gets bored easily, or is always changing from toy to toy, it might not work the best to keep them entertained. These items are a little bit on the expensive side, but it was easy to find at my local hardware store that carries pet supplies.

Great Dog Toy!! Very Tough!

5

I have a Boston Terrier that destroys every toy she gets..the only one that looks in new condition is her Kong [and she plays with it frequently] She absolutely loves this toy and it's great that it has lasted such a long time for us! Many other toys I have bought other the years have claimed they are "tough" and "indestructible"..she has eaten through all of them, except this one! Would definitely recommend to anyone with a dog that's a chewer!

Love Kong!

5

The Kong is such a great dog toy, but for us it's so much more. We have a few Kongs around our house because they have become a necessary item. First of all, my Lab had extremely bad anxiety when he would be left at home without any people. The anxiety was usually expressed through distractible behavior. We tried a lot of different solutions which had varying degrees of success. Then we started giving him a Kong. I fill it with treats, sometimes stuck together with peanut butter or frozen yogurt. It takes him so long to work the treats out of it that he barely has time to miss us! Second, our pit bull is what I call a "fluffer stuffer". He will sit and destroy any toy we give him. He destroys soft stuffed toys and plastic squeaky toys. He will even sit and pull apart the large rope toys. The Kong is the first dog toy that has been able to withstand his chewing. We use the Kong for fetch too. This is just such a versatile dog toy. I definitely recommend it to anyone with a dog

Sturdy as ever, but my puppy is rarely interested

4

Having a large breed puppy who loves to chew, I am a big fan of the Kong toys. This "classic" Kong is definitely durable and strong enough to withstand sharp teeth, chewing activity and other. My only dilemma is that my Golden is just really not interested in playing with this Kong. It bounces crazily and unpredictably, which draws her attention, but unless there is peanut butter or treats inside of it, she just has no interest in chasing it or playing fetch with it, or other. For a treat dispenser, I would highly recommend this as it keeps your pup's attention/interest, they have to work a little bit to get to what they want, and it's strong enough to hold up against the chewing. I will put some peanut butter on the edge and on the inside (so that my Golden has to work to get to it) and it works magic for about ten or fifteen minutes. I have also put some of her regular kibble on the inside, but it seems to fall out quite easily so it's not really requiring any effort on her part (so she gets bored). It's a good toy depending upon what you're goal is.

Kong is the bomb!

5

The creators of Kong Classic have come up with an awesome line of toys for dogs of all sizes and breeds. When we first got our yellow lab, I knew it would be important to provide him with toys to keep him entertained and to give him something he could safely chew. We started with a smaller Kong toy when he was a puppy, and then we got him the Kong Classic to accommodate his more powerful chewing. It was the first toy that he was able to keep for a while without destroying it. You can either buy Kong treats or cheaper biscuits to put inside the Kong. I also like to put some peanut butter in there as well. Our dog loves chewing on the Kong trying to get the treat out. You can also put it in the freezer in the summer for a cool treat. The Kong material is very durable. The Classic Kong comes in different sizes depending on what size dog you have. If your dog is an extra powerful chewer, there is a black Kong that's even stronger.
