Oh ya, it returns baby! It's been a long wait after seeing all the stunning game trailers showing off the fancy visuals and talk of rumors that it might be been ported over the Xbox 360 but Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots finally arrives to the Sony Playstation 3 here. So the big question is was all the hype deserved and is this MGS a cinematic masterpiece and one of the best video games ever created or is it one over blown piece of crap with a boring story line.

So what the heck is going on here? Well, it hard to explain because this is a Metal Gear game after all and there is always something crazy going on. Anyway a few years after the events in Metal Gear Solid 2 the hero of that game: Solid Snake is still as tough as ever but he is suffering from a rapidly aging process. Since he looks an old Tom Selleck or something and there is a big worry that Snake doesn't have much time left. Snake still has some fight in him though and he is on a mission to kill his long time rival Liquid Ocelot (going back to the original Metal Gear Solid) and his grand army. Sure, the story can get a little long winded like other Metal Gear games especially since the intro is over 20 minutes long but it's still very compelling.

Just like any Metal Gear game you have to carefully navigate through several dangerous locations like a war-tore Middle East city and snowy fortresses by taking out guards, avoiding giant mutant walkers, and all that fun stuff. It's a good idea to avoid detection but if you want to all nuts and shoot anything that move you can still go that route as well. Fortunately, the control is better then ever thanks to the new over the shoulder and first person perspectives when you use the game's different guns and you can even purchase several enchantments for your weapons here too from arm's dealers. Other new features include the ability to use Solid Eye for night vision, an OctoCamo suit to blend in the background better like a chameleon and even a little robot that can sneak around or shock near by guards for Snake. Hell, the game even has an ipod here if you like believe it or not.

Although the game has a few problems that might annoy some players like the sometimes slow install times, Metal Gear Solid 4 is one incredible game with some of the realistic visuals and sound effects ever done in a video game up to this point. This game is easily better then any movie I seen this year. If the massive single player experience with multiple difficulties don't grab you here the huge up to 16 player multi-player will.
