Great little Kodak camera

5

This Kodak camera takes the best pictures I have taken in a long time.  The pictures are very clear and no shaking.  Even little kids can use this camera with no problems at all.  That's saying a lot for a camera.

I love it but....

OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS CAMERA BUT.....They make it seem like you don't have to go on the internet in order to use the share button. That is the main reason I wanted to get the camera. It was a Christmas present so when I opened up the box and realized that you still have to connect the camera to a computer I was not too happy. I mean the share button is still cool because I don't have to go one by one and upload the pictures to a computer or a website but it would have been a lot night if you didn't have to connect the camera to the laptop. I like the fact that you can put in an email address and it will automatically send the pictures to that email address when you connect the camera to the computer. I don't like the fact that there is not a setting on the camera so that you can take black and white pictures. Maybe they have it on one of the higher end models of their cameras but it is not on this one.

Good Camera, for the price

I would recommend this camera if you want a large screen, easy share, and looking to stay on the cheaper end of the budget.  I am not totally satisfied with the auto capture, or auto focus, because as you wait for the camera to be ready the moment is passed most of the time.

The EasyShare M550 is an amazing camera!

The best feature this camera has is the ability to automatically load pictures to Facebook. What may have taken hours now takes ten mintues (or less, depending on how fast your computer is). I recomend this camera for anyone.

Kodak M550--save your money!

2

I bought this camera for my mother for Christmas.  I ended up returning it and getting a different brand instead.  I tried it out first.  I was looking for something very simple, easy to use.  My mother isn't much into technology, but loves her digital camera.  **Design cons--** First, the on button is recessed.  Good for not accidentally turning on.  Not so good if you have problems with your hands.... The shutter button is flat and long, not a round button.  Very close to the flash button and easy to hit that instead. Menu/review was not easy to navigate. **Mechanical cons--** Lots of red eyes.  Almost everytime I took a picture, both of my daughters had really bad red eyes. Flash?  I assumed I could turn the camera on and just point and shoot.  Sometimes I turned the camera on and the flash was off.  It took me several minutes each time to get the flash turned back on. Also, I had to make lots of changes to the settings to get decent pictures.  But when I compared those pictures to the ones I took with my old (really old) 4MP Kodak, the difference was clear.  The pictures with this camera were not as clear or the color as true.... I would save my money and purchase a different brand or different model of camera.

Kodak Easyshare M550 Digital Camera is a solid starter!

I love this camera! I am not a photographic expert , but I find that this camera makes me look like I know what I'm doing! I have taken this on vacation and can not only take excellent pictures without having to mess with lenses or settings, but I can instantly send them back home with a netbook and a wifi hotspot. This makes sharing vacation pics with family and friends easy and fast! I also like that it is easy to review pictures after taking them to see if we need a "re-do", due to movement or poor lighting, or that someone blinked! My kids are grown, and I have a masters degree, and I am not looking to have to take a college class just to figure out how to operate the family camera. If you are looking for a compact, easy-to-use camera to record travel experiences or family events, you won't be disappointed in the quality you'll get in this camera. This is a solid camera for anyone with minimal camera experience and/or familiarity- really, you'll be happy with this one! You won't be disappointed!

compact, easy to use, takes beautiful photos

I take my m550 everywhere, so I can always have a camera for those moments you can't plan but just have to capture.  It is compact so I can fit it in any pocket.  It has a nifty software called 'Smart Capture' that will chose from scne modes for me, so all I need to do is turn it on, point, and shoot.  It does also have several other settings, and I often set it into Night Landscape for cool effects with lights at night.  I really like the large LCD screen, and though I don't use the xoom very ofen, it's nice to have a 5 times zoome when I need one.  I can program email addresses into it, and witht e touch of a button I can send my photos or videos to facebook, flickr, Kodak gallery, youtube, and the emails I programmed in all at once - no other camera has such comprehensive sharing software.  I have had no problems whatsoever with the battery, in fact compared to my other cameras it is the one I charge the least.  I also love that I can shoot video with it, so I don't have to be carrying around another seperate camera for that.

simple!!!

I purchased the Kodak Easy Share M550 Digital Camera for myself on Thanksgiving. I had wanted a digital camera that would be user friendly and one that would enable me to upload pictures in relatively few steps. The hardest part for me was installing the batteries..lol After the batteries were put in, that camera is literally one touch and point and go. When it comes to uploading after the software is installed, it is simply a matter of connecting the ucb cord from the camer to the computer and the rest is done for you, I was very relcutant and maybe a little bit nervous to attempt this , however i was able to do it and was so porud of myself for doing so!!!! it wil be nice now to take pictures whenever i want and not worry about having to have the film developed or made onto a cd for me. I think i welcomed myself to the 21st century by purchasing the Kodak easy share m550 digital camera.

Make sure the picture file is there!

I have this camera, and while it takes pretty good pictures - there are always a few pictures that show up on the computer as "unrecognized file format" - and it always seems to be the one picture you don't want to lose!  I don't know why this happens, but have gotten into the habit of double checking to make sure they're all there.  It is very lightweight, fits in your pocket and the battery life is terrific.  I love to take pictures and have a camera everywhere I go!  It is pretty sturdy and has held up pretty well over the past year.  I have an 8gb card so I can take hundreds of pictures without a problem.  There are several settings and you can take pictures of almost anything, even movement.  I would recommend this camera, and have been very happy with it - other than the random "unrecognized file format" problem.  It takes great pictures and is easy to connect to the computer to download the pictures.
