Kodak Easy Share Gallery  —

We use Snapfish and Ofoto to buy our photos online. I can’t say there have never been glitches with either site. There have been. However they’ve been minor and we get good pictures on time.

I am writing this because our experience last night with Kodak Gallery Share was so bad that I have to pass it on. We tried it because we had a coupon and we usually choose between the above two based on the price.

Signing in at Kodak Gallery Share was easy enough.

We couldn’t upload one picture at a time because we had over 100. It would have taken hours. Most sites have an option to bulk load. Kodak Gallery appears to also. I was told that I was using the photo by photo upload and was shown options to upload.

I was told that the Kodak Easy Share Software would allow me to express upload from my camera or the software to the Gallery. I could then organize, view, edit and share my pictures. Perfect!

My husband and I were doing this together. Between the two of us we have more years of education than I need to count. Needless to say we weren’t doing anything wrong. I downloaded the software and then shut off my computer which I was told to do. On start up the software was installed.

In spite of this the words “You are using Photo-by-Photo Upload” were still showing. Nowhere was there any indication of the fact I uploaded the software and should be able to bulk load them.

Eventually they showed up on another screen as loaded. Not only did I do this last night but I am doing this right now to see if the 2nd time around would be any easier. The pictures have already been bought through Snapfish but for the purpose of this review I want to be as fair as possible.

After spending ½ an hour I have finally found that my pictures are in the cart. Great, right? Wrong. Last night as tonight, this site or software crashes. I get a “not responding” message. Tonight, like last night I clicked the site off so it wouldn’t crash my computer.

Granted I got farther tonight then I did last night and maybe tomorrow night I could actually order the pictures but I’ve had enough with Kodak Easy Share. They charge $.19 a picture which isn’t even a great deal.

Jo says, Thumbs Down!

There are three options offered by Kodak to avoid one at a time uploads:
o You can do quite a few at a time ( at least ten) with no software
o You can do whole files at a time using One type of simple software that requires a download/installation. Very simple to use.
o You can do entire photo editing, management and uploading using very large and complicated program by Kodak...I think there are many better photo editing and management packages out there. ie. AC/DSee
