I needed to make copies and a couple of enlargements of some family photos that my sister sent to me. It was easy enough for me to scan the pictures into my computer, but I wanted to make sure they printed out with a good photo quality. This wasn't a task I was convinced my little inkjet printer could accomplish to my satisfaction. Remembering the Kodak EasyShare software, I decided to check to see if they had an online version that was less frustrating to use than the version that came with the camera.
I'm glad I checked. After signing up at the website, I got a 20-print freebie and an explanation of how to get started. Since my photos were already scanned into the computer, all I had to do was drag and drop them into the online photo album. I had already made a few resizing and centering edits, so all I needed to do was tweak them once they were uploaded. The editing software is pretty basic; rotate, red-eye, crop, and instant-fix. If you have a lot of editing to do, it's better to do it before you upload. However, the software does tell you if the quality of the print lends itself to an enlargement, and if so, how big you can go. A couple of mine were flagged as being unsuitable for anything but wallet size, but most of them were marked "prints best up to 16 x 20." That's good information to know before you place your order.
Once the photos were trimmed to my satisfaction, I simply added them to my shopping cart, and selected quantities and sizes. You can specify whether or not you want them printed in matte or glossy finish and you can mail them to yourself and/or to additional addresses. The cost varies by size and quantity, but it was competitive with what you're charged to have pictures copied at the drugstore. There was a small shipping charge of a couple of dollars, and I received my order in a few days.
It really was easy to get the copies I needed without leaving the house. I'm also happy knowing that the Kodak print quality is superior to the quality of inkjet pictures, and that they're going to last much longer than if I had printed them at home.
