I happened upon the Kodak 5100 all in one while shopping for a new printer for my office. I compared the price at quite a few places including Office Depot, Dell and a few others. I was still in the decision process when I read how cheap the ink is. I can buy 2 black cartridges and 2 color cartridges for less than what I would pay for one color cartridge with my other all in one printer. I purchased it finally through Kodak.com which came at 50% off with the purchase of a Kodak camera which was 75% off. It was definitely a real steal. I received the printer, a 5 mega pixel camera, the double sided printing unit (which usually is not included), paper and both black and color ink for less than what I would have paid for the camera alone.
It is true to form - once this printer gets warmed up it prints rather quickly. The speed in which it prints out the 4 X 6 photos is awesome and they are quality professional looking photos. I don't print too much in color but that seems to go as specified too. The black and white prints are also just as fast as specified by the manufacturer.
This printer is hooked up to our main computer and gets used quite often - I love the double sided printing feature and the many options for printing in page # order, ascending or descending options, etc.
It took me a while to get used to the size and color though. It is bright white with a yellow band across the front and a bit on the large size. A sleek silver and gray would have helped out a bit then maybe the large size wouldn't stand out so much.
This unit does tend to make alot of noise. I don't know if it is common in this model or if I just happened to get a noisy one but once she gets going the sounds tend to disappear.
