Another stripped out regulator

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Just like a prior reviewer...the regulator knob stripped the manifold. Definitly a manufacturing design flaw. The regulator knob looks like its made of coated steel. The manifold/regulator assembly is cast aluminum. Not only is aluminum a bad idea but thin aluminum is really bad. The threads on the knob are fine...which should improve thread count in the aluminum and strength. The aluminum part only has 3...yes THREE...complete threads.

I am going to take the disassembled manifold to the Lowe's store in my area and let the manager see the pitiful quality. If they won't return it than I will probably just JB Weld and retap the hole. That won't cost over 10 bucks including the tap...and will probably be stronger than new...since JB Weld has steel in it.

The included air fittings are cheap junk and they leak as well.

Another piece of cheap crap.

Overall

I purchased the upright 1 1/2 hp, 20 gallon compressor from Lowe's in 2007, it broke in 2009, just about 6 months beyond warranty, as luck with have it.  The electric motor began throwing sparks and overheated.  I only have the compressor on that circuit and it although there have been a couple of times where it has been asked to run quite a bit in a given period I do not believe it has not been overworked so this should not have happened.  I have not used the compressor over probably 25 -30 times and it should have lasted longer. A small compressor should expect to run longer so it should be engineered to survive.  My guess is, these oiless compressors are very...

Save your money, this product is poorly made

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I have had nothing but problems with this, sometimes it will not kick on don't know why. I took it back to Lowes and guess what it worked. This happened twice.

I was using it to run my framing nail gun putting new barn siding up and it failed me. It turns on but will only run up to 40 psi total tank pressure. Took it back to Lowes and they are sending it to the manufaturer for repair. I could have to pay up to $130 for the warrenty repair work. If that is the verdict after the manufacturer looks at it I will contest to get my money back and purchase a non oil free compressor.

I did the break in as indicated by the manual. I have only used the compressor to full tank pressure 12 times. Not ...

Absolute junk

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I purchased the Kobalt Model 99007 back in 2007. I had it for one week and the motor and pump burned up. I returned it to Lowe's for replacement. The second one lasted until October 2011. I rarely used it for anything other than an occasional impact wrench or to inflate tires. This one not only has failed but caught fire in the process. I checked to find a replacement pump and motor assembly to discover it was $283.00. This one will go to the scrap heap and I will never buy another Kobalt product again! BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Pitiful Quality Materials

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Run as fast as you can away from this air compressor. Mine ran fine for awhile then started leaking air. Pulled the top plastic off and the potted metal flange that attaches to the pressure switch is bowed out from the pressure. This allows air to leak out past the switch/flange mating surface. Obvious crap quality. Now I have to go to Lowe's and talk to whoever to get a new piece, taking the crap parts to prove my point. I rather suspect they are aware of it by now though.

compressor keeps shutting off

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

My Kobalt 26 gal 150 psi 120V/15A keeps shutting off. I have it close to my breaker box and on a 20 amp breaker, It's rated at 15 amps. Why does it keep shutting down when it should be climbing to max psi? I reset the compressor breaker button and it comes on for a few sec. (30 to 45) then shuts off again. Can't hardly use it like this. Should have went back to Craftsman! Can you help me?

poor customer service and support

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Bought a 17 gallon Kobalt compressor from Lowe's last July. Yesterday the pressure regulator screw stripped the threads in the regulator body. An obvious manufacturing defect. Called customer service and the guy knew right away what the problem was. BUT, $16 shipping and $9.53 handling, plus I have to fax a copy of the sales receipt, another $2. So I have to pay $27 to replace an obviously bad part. It's not going to happen, either Lowe's takes it back or I will protest the charge to the redit card company. Last Kobalt tool I'll ever buy.

A VERY poorley designed machine prone to failure!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I own a Kobalt oil free compressor model # 99007 VLK1582609 that is constantly failing.

The aluminum tube from pump to tank has broken THREE times and is now too short to use.

I tried to order a new one and was told they are NOT IN STOCK! What now?

Also, sometimes the pump does NOT SHUT OFF even when pressure is achieved,,very annoying.

The soft metal used to attach the regulator to the tanks holes are completley stripped,,,useless.

If you need a RELIABLE machine,,,DON'T BUY THIS ONE!
