Knocked Up Review Summary

Knocked Up is "hold onto your stomach funny." Katherine Heigl of Grey's Anatomy stars as a career-driven young woman who has a one-night stand with a lovable louse, Seth Rogen, and it leads to her getting pregnant. By the same director of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up has just enough romance and raunchiness to appeal to both men and women. However, a few female reviewers couldn't even get that far into the comedy, not being able to get past why an intelligent woman would make such a horrible mistake. The majority of Viewpoints reviewers looked past this and consider Knocked Up to be "one of the funniest movies that came out in 2007."

NOTE **  Both NBC Universal and the director of Knocked Up (Judd Apatow) are being sued over the film by author Rebecca Eckler, who claims that the concept was stolen from her 2004 book of the same name.  I have not read the novel in question, so I don't feel that I should… read full review »

I have been waiting for Knocked Up to come out on DVD.  I've had it in my queue on Netflix for sometime now and was excited when it finally made it to my mailbox.  Knocked Up stars Katherine Heigl who also plays Izzie on Grey's Anatomy.  This was one of the reasons I wanted to see Knocked Up, but I also thought the movie would be a good comedy.  The pre-views were very funny and it promised to be a good movie to watch.  — — Plot Summary — — This movie is basically about a girl, Alison (Heigl) who goes out partying with her sister for a night… read full review »

I wont give you the long review since everybody else covered it so well. But, suffice it to say that I too really enjoyed the movie. In fact, I liked it so much that I was willing to sit for 2+ hours on the floor to watch it. (that's right! The 10:45pm movie was sooo packed we could not even get a seat!) And, to make matters worse, it was the first time I wore white in a few years. Hopefully that tells you how very much I liked it. — p.s. As a woman who was pregnant for 3 straight years, I can definitely relate. I think I was koo-koo.  Though, hopefully I wasnt that koo-koo. The… read full review »

Okay I'll be honest, I'll come clean; Katherine Heigl was prime motivator in going to see Knocked Up.  Next to my wife she is probably one of the only women in America whom I would die for.  Perhaps that is a (slight) exaggeration, but you get the picture, I have a serious case for the blonde with the million dollar smile, and serious curves.  So I wanted to see the Gray's Anatomy alum on the big screen, smile and all.  — Spun in the tradition of There is Something About Mary, Knocked Up, directed by the same man who brought us The 40-Year Old Virgin was a mild… read full review »

Katherine Heigl is just a likable actress. We like her on Gray's Anatomy, and if so, she's even more likable in this summer's Knocked Up as E! on-air talent Allison. While another actress, Anne Hathaway, was originally cast in the film, and many others were considered, such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kate Bosworth, Lindsay Lohan, and Portia de Rossi, Heigl is so perfect in this part, it's hard to imagine the other actresses in the role. — — Heigl's male lead, Seth Rogen, is also perfectly cast as a lovable louse who has no direction or goals in life, and when faced with an… read full review »

There are a shortage of Romantic Comedies that will draw in a male audience. The makers of Knocked up are definitely working on fixing that. This movie fills the shoes left vacant by wedding crashers. It is obvious that Seth Rogen is going to be inducted into the Funny Guy Hall of Fame with the likes of Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrel, and other greats.  Knocked up has love, and just enough college raunchiness to bring in a strong crowd from both sexes.  If you haven't seen this go see it today. If you have seen it you've probably watched again… read full review »

Knocked up is a comedy that was recently released on DVD, it was created by the same people who made the 40 Year Old Virgin.  If you liked the 40 Year Old Virgin you will very likely like this movie as well.  In fact a couple of the actors that were in the 40 Year Old Virgin star in Knocked up as well. Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. — The Plot — Alison Scott  (Katherine Heigl) is a lovely girl who goes out to a bar with her sister one night her sister is a bit depressed because her marriage isn't really going the way that she wants it too.  While… read full review »

This is a really fun and really funny film. A growing trend in movies these days seems to be the "gross-out" romantic comedy. These films combine the romantic part that appeals to women and the "gross-out" part of the film that appeals to men. Putting them together is great and provides a film that both sexes can enjoy. — Seth Rogan is great as the loveable loser, as are his buddies that provide plentry of humor. Katherine Heigl plays the girl that is seemingly out of his league. The two have a fun chemistry that works great for the plotline. Paul Rudd is great in a supporting… read full review »

Judd Apatow's The 40-Year-Old Virgin was a raunchy funny update of an 80s sex comedy that benefited from great charismatic performances and writing that didn't sacrifice character development for sight gags.   ( Apatow jumped to films from television's Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared) — I was not expecting very much out of Knocked Up.  I figured we'd get a cruder version of an 80s John Hughes' movie or the kind of movie Steve Martin keeps making.  I was pleasantly surprised that the film features some wonderful performances, and like 40 Year Virgin, gives us… read full review »

I found it very hard to sit through Knocked Up, because seeing an intelligent woman get pregnant by a one night stand was hard for me to take. What was even worse was watching her marry this man. Seth Rogen, an unlikely romantic leading man, is perfectly cast as slacker Ben Stone. Ben lives in a frat house-type abode with his buddies (off-screen friends Martin Starr, Jay Baruchel, Jason Segel, and Jonah Hill) and spends his time sort of working on creating a website about naked celebrities. Work isn't a high priority for Ben. Mostly, he's a loveable oaf who just hangs out with his goofy friends, getting drunk, talking about sex as well as other assorted topics guys in their 20s typically discuss at great length. — Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd in Knocked Up. ©… read full review »

This movie is one of the funniest movies that came out in 2007.  It in my opinion top the comedey movie ratings for the the year. I enjoyed it the whole way through and would watch it over and over. I also have recommended it to friends and family a like to watch and they also loved it. As far as i know there isn't a movie out there that this is like with a couple that has a one night stand kind of and end up having a baby and going through the process of trying to be a couple when one is still living in their younger years and the other is thrieving in her career. This movie could… read full review »

I saw this movie in the theatre with a girlfriend. I normally like action-packed, horror, sinister or suspenseful movies but she really wanted to see this so I conceded. I am so glad I did. I can not tedll you how many times I laughed out loud. Every scene was hilarious and the premise of the movie was not so far-fetched. — A couple days later, when my husband saw previews for the movie and mentioned he wanted to see it, too, I told him it was definitely funny enough to see twice, even if I had to pay again! I really wanted him to see his reactions. He loved it, too! … read full review »
