I definitely know that comedies are my favorite movies. "Knocked Up" is not only a comedy, it also has some seriousness to it and mush as well. It's an entertaining movie that I could and have watched more than once.
"Knocked Up", written and directed by Judd Apatow, has a great cast and soundtrack. It won the 2007 Teen Choice Award for Comedy and also People's Choice Award in 2008 for Favorite Movie Comedy. It was nominated for several other awards as well. Judd Apatow also directed "The 40-Year-Old Virgin".
The cast includes: Seth Rogen as Ben Stone, Katherine Heigl as Alison Scott, Paul Rudd , Leslie Mann, Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Martin Star, Charlyn Yi. You may have seen Katherine Heigl on "Grey's Anatomy" and in my opinion, she is an excellent actor. Several of the actors here were also in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin". Great comedy cast!
The soundtrack includes such artists as: Enya, Little River Band, Lil Kim, Ambrosia, The Clash, Sublime, B-52's. All the songs are very fitting for the movie but during the ending credits, I heard a song that is just so cute! It's called, "Daughter" and was written by Peter Blegvad and performed by Loudon Wainwright III. I have never heard of either of them but really enjoyed the song.
Ben Stone is a flakey party guy, seems his only goal in life is to be high. Alison Scott is a career minded, nice girl who's goal in life seems to be furthering her career and moving up in the world. Here's a perfect example of the "opposites attract" theory. One drunken night, 8 weeks and several pregnancy tests later, their adventure begins. The basic story of the movie is an unplanned pregnancy, after a night at the club, with two very different people and the path they take.
Seth Rogen is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. He plays the part in this movie of a perfect slacker/pot head/flake. He lives in a party house with four other people who are just as flaky as he is. Katherine Heigl is already one of my favorite actors. She's perfect in the part of Alison Scott; has a great laugh and is very believable in this part.
The only real special effects I can think of are the various stages of Alison's pregnancy and also a very graphic shot of the baby "crowning". All I can say is, she definitely looked pregnant and definitely looked like she was giving birth!
This movie is unrated . It is non violent but has a huge drug reference and strong language. I would recommend anyone over the age of 13 to see this movie. That would be a mature 13.
I think this movie has the perfect cast. It is hilariously funny in parts. It tells a great story and I would definitely recommend it for a good laugh.
