I love to cook and bake! I like truly big metal powerful heavy duty monster food prep appliances!! Getting a cheap plastic flimsily-made stand mixer or food processor just isn't practical at all because you'll end up buying another one again in about 6 monrhs or so!

This stand mixer - the K-5SS, has been adored by serious home gourmet cooks, home bakers and professional chefs alike for many, many, many years. It has been in production for the better part of about 45 years or so now!!

It is in use in the kitchens of hospitals, culinary traing programs, restaurants, and commercial bakeries, supplementing and helping out the monster floor-standing and the countertop 20-qt Hobart mixers!!

It meets and exceeds all of my expectations! I've had it for over two years now, and it has not let me down. Perhaps 2 years isn't much to brag about, but I've owned the slightly smaller K45SS for almost 22 years now. That one has done well by me for many, many years now, and is STILL in service!

I bought this machine based on the performance and reliability of the K-45SS, which has never batted an eyelash! it excels very much in getting the job done for whatever mixing task at hand!! It truly ranks right up there with the heavyweights!

Comes with a 5-qt stainless steel bowl with handle, a dough hook, wire whisk and a flat beater - all as standard equipment.

Powerful 325-watt ball bearing motor and rugged transmission help assure many years of long life!! One-year hassle-free replacement warranty.

Unique planetary mixing action spins the beaters in a geometric pattern around the bowl clockwise while rotating them counterclockwise. This method helps assure that cake batters, frostings, meringues and whipped cream are processed faster with less mixing time!!

Heavy all-metal construction with baked-on enamal finish is much more durable than those cheap and flimsy plastic stand mixers that may crack and break in a matter of months!! Hand crank raises bowl to mixing position and lowers it for easy attaching and releasing of beaters and bowl. Ten mixing speeds.

Has front power hub for the use of a wide array of attachments.

I must make it know that this machine is very awkward, heavy and bulky. Finding a more permanent spot for it on the counter is highly recommended, as it does strongly demand a considerable amount of kitchen real estate!

 Note:

This stand mixer, even though it still looks the same as it did for many years, and even though it is still in production, its model number has been changed to the model KSM-500 and it is now called the Pro-500.

But it still vurtually the same exact appearance as the earlier model!

Thank you for reading this review.

Oh, so it's not a stand mixer. Kitchenaid is good. I had my first one for almost 22 years now, and it still works just as good as when I first got it!!
