KitchenAid KTRC22EMBL01 —

We have owned the Kitchen Aid KTRC22EM refrigerator for four years and it has worked well during that time.  It is an Energystar model that costs 48 dollars per year to run, according to the calculation on the energystar.gov website.  This compares very favorably to similar newer models, which the website indicates cost 42 dollars a year to run.

The savings associated with Energystar qualified refrigerators can mean real savings if you own an older, inefficient refrigerator. The energystar.gov website features a handy guide where you can research a new Energystar qualified refrigerator and recycle your old model.  With the empasis on energy efficiency, technology advances quickly, so I will be checking to see how the KTRC22EM compares each year.

I do want to mention one annoying feature of this appliance, although it only happens once in awhile.  When it reaches the end of a cycle, it makes a loud "pop" that is noticeable mostly at night and can be startling until you get used to it.
