I have had a few $30-$40 blenders that only sometimes worked well or that died within a year. So, this time, I decided to spend the extra money and get a really good blender. Trust me, it was worth the extra money.
Both my husband and I really like fruit smoothies, and it is nice to finally have a blender that mixes the ingredients together really well. It has no problems with an entire pound of frozen strawberries added to ice cream. The container is large enough (56 ounces) to handle more volume than any other blender I've ever used. In addition, we both like to make protein shakes with milk, powder and ice cubes after we work out. Unlike my previous blenders, this one has held up really well to everyday use. The blades are still very sharp. It also works well for blended drinks like margaritas without blending it into a watery mess.
The clean-up is also easy. You just pop the whole thing into the dishwasher. Yes, that's right...no more taking the blade and all the rubber thingies out and washing them seperately. It all goes in together. That fact alone pretty much sold me on this blender.
This blender costs about $150 at Macys, but as is typical of Macys, it is usually on sale and I think I paid around $100 for mine. Also, it comes in a ton of colors, so no matter how your kitchen is decorated, one of them will match.
