Great Dishwasher

4

We purchased this dishwasher to replace a builder grade dishwasher that went bad quickly. This one is so much quieter than the one it replaced it was hard to believe. Our kitchen is connected to our family room, and when running the dishwasher we can watch the television without the need to turn up the volume. that is a new experience for sure! The load and layout are nice and useful, it makes sense and is versatile. The only complaint that I have about it would be the running time which seems to vary from load to load. It is not uncommon for the dishwasher to run for well over an hour, sometimes up to an hour and 45 minutes. I have been in contact with Kitchenaid and they say that the run time depends on how dirty the dishwasher senses the dishes to be. We always rinse all of our dishes and never leave food on plates, silverware, milk in the bottom of glasses, and so on, so I'm not sure how that could impact the running time. I do worry that it costs too much to run because it runs so long. I have no complaints though with how clean the dishes come out or how much I can fit in it. Overall I would buy again.

an excellent dishwasher spoiled by cheaply made racks/bins

We owned this dishwasher for about a year, after having upgraded from a Whirlpool model that broke down.  We selected Kitchenaid because of its excellent reputation and this particular model because it has a nice array of features for a relatively reasonable price.  We've been very happy with almost aspect of this dishwasher.  Unfortunately, the one problem we have with it manifests itself everytime we use the dishwasher and is exceptionally annoying (although it doesn't affect the functioning of the dishwasher per se).  First, the good stuff: this model has an attractive stainless steel basin, adjustable dish racks (top raises and lowers, bottom has some fold-down tines), a large utensil basket which stores on the side in an out-of-the way location, and a variety of cycles (heavy duty, normal, light/china, & rinse only) and options (pro scrub, sani rinse, high temp scrub, & delayed start).  Most importantly, it cleans dishes very well and runs virtually silently.  Our dishwasher is in a large open kitchen/living room area, and we have had several instances of guests not realizing it was even running.  Now, the fatal flaw.  Kitchenaid apparently outsourced the making of its dish racks in the last year or two, because friends of ours who have the same dishwasher do not have this problem with their dish racks. The new racks are extremely poorly designed, frequently fall of the tracks, and were even recalled due to not fitting properly.   Almost everytime we pull out the bottom dish rack, it comes off of the track.  We spent months dealing with numerous repair visits under the warranty and were finally shipped a new bottom rack and wheels.  The replacement parts improved the problem, but did not solve it.   So, we are left with a high quality dishwasher that cleans great and runs silently, but has an annoying flaw that affects us very day. UPDATE: A year later, the mechanics of the dishwasher still run perfectly, but we still deal everyday with drawers that don't fit on the track properly. Even worse, we just had to order a new utensil holder, for which we paid out of pockets, because the original one developed holes in the bottom. Call me crazy, but I expect that parts of a dishwasher will last for more than 2 years. Especially on a nicer brand and model like Kitchenaid. I've had cheap, builder grade dishwashers that, while they were loud, gave me fewer headaches than this one. Noise Level Extremely quiet Cleaning Time Fine Loading Flexibility No issues Performance Washes very well. Design Don't know why they changed their drawer design. They may be cheaper to manufacture, but they will ruin Kitchenaid's reputation. Durability Absymal

KitchenAid QuietScrub is a pretty good dishwasher

I didn't buy this dishwasher, it was already in the house when we moved in. That said, I don't know how old this dishwasher is. I like having a dishwasher it is nice not having to do all the dishes by hand. But this one doesn't work THAT great. I have to get every food particle off before loading the dishwasher. Sometimes a knife with peanut butter on it gets put in and then when I take it out it is just dried on peanut butter. Makes me wonder what this dishwasher does. It is very roomy and I can fit like a day and half's worth of dishes in there (family of 3). It is very nice for washing baby bottle parts, pacifiers, etc. The drying cycle works well and it even has an energy saver dry cycle which is nice.

When we bought our house it had a very very old Kitchenaid dishwasher in it, and it still worked well. We decided to rennovate our kitchen and gutted the entire thing. We replaced that old dishwasher with a lower-end Kenmore dishwasher to fit our budget and match the other appliances we had. Unfortunately less than three years later that cheap dishwasher was useless and didn't really clean the dishes, in fact, the old Kitchenaid worked much better than the newer model, so I started researching dishwashers and settled on the KitchenAid Architect II Superba Series Built-In Dishwasher (KUDS30IVBL) model. I chose it because it had a stainless steel interior, which helps the water get and stay hotter to clean more effectively. The spray arms have four points, rather than just two like most dishwashers, so they clean much more thoroughly. It has multiple settings for washing, including a pot scrubber setting. Additionally, you can adjust the top rack higher or lower to fit your dishes better. Sometimes I have to wash a tall pot on the bottom rack and have to raise the top rack, and it fits great. This dishwasher is so much quieter than any dishwasher I have ever owned. I imagine, that like the old KitchenAid that was in the house when we moved here, this KitchenAid dishwasher will be in the kitchen for many more years to come.

Great cleaning, but...............

I replaced a Bosch dishwasher with this machine a couple of months ago. I really loved my Bosch, but it was impossible to get repairs done locally. I checked carefully before buying this machine to be sure that this would not be a problem. I found that my Bosch is a little quieter than this machine, but we can still watch tv with the machine going in the adjacent room without any problem. It doesn't clean quite as well as my Bosch, but it is close. The one thing that I don't like is that you can stand close to the digital pad, without ever touching it, and the digital pad will activate the machine. This is something I don't really understand and is quite an inconvenience. I don't know if I should call someone about this, or if the pad is really just supposed to be that sensitive. The machine has an unobtrusive profile, which I like. Overall, I would say that we are satisfied with this dishwasher.

Great Dishwasher

We just purchased this dishwasher. It has a very deep tub which is so nice when loading because my dishes used to hit the spinner in my old one. It is very easy to load and I can fit alot in the dishwasher. Even when it is really full, everything comes out clean. My old washer used to leave some items still dirty, not this one. My dishes come out so clean. It runs very long, I think the total cycle is 3 hours, so be prepared to not be quick if you are doing 2 loads in a row. My glasses used to come out with like a cloudy finish, now they are perfect, clear and clean. I liked this dishwasher because it didn't have a handle sticking out, I wanted a smooth front. I have young kids so I didn't want them to be able to pull on the handle. I highly recommend this dishwasher to anyone.

Worthless

The KitchenAid dishwasher started malfunctioning within 2 days following installation. 5 weeks and 3 service calls later it still doesn't work due to a faulty control panel. KitchenAid will not replace the unit and insists on trying to repair it. The faulty control panel is a know problem with this model - see reviews on other websites.

KitchenAid KUDS30IV is the best dishwasher ever!

This dishwasher was purchased as a replacement to one that did not work very well. We checked Consumer Reports to see what their ratings said. At first we went with another brand, installed it and it made the dishes dirtier. We returned it and ordered this one. It is very user friendly. It has a variety of cycles to best clean almost anything. The top rack is adjustable. There is even a setting for an extra spraying from the far back wall. This dishwasher gets the dishes clean every time. I will certainly listen to what Consumer Reports has to say in the future because they were spot on with this one! I would definately recommend this dishwasher to anyone who needs a dishwasher that works. The settings are on the front and easy to use. There is a light to tell you when the dishes are done. There is even an option for steam cleaning. This is by far the best dishwasher out there for the price.

Love, love, love my Kitchenaid Dishwasher (KUDS30IVBL)!!!

5 Stars, 2 thumbs up, highly recommended...however you want to say it! I got this dishwasher to replace our ancient one(I think was original to the house!).  This dishwasher is super-quiet.  I could not believe the difference.  Before, everyone had to be awake when I ran the (old) dishwasher or it would wake them up.  Not so with this one!  No one even realizes it is running! I love that it has an adjustable top rack.  Actually, there is a lot of room up there anyway, and I have never really needed it.  I have fit things up there that absolutely would not have fit in my old one.  I love the pot-scrubber feature.  It blows water from the back of the dishwasher for extra cleaning.  I love the set-up inside.  I was specifically looking for the silverware holder on the side of the rack, not in the door.  I am able to fit tall utensils(serving spoons, spatulas, etc) in without them hitting the top rack.  There are a few racks that can fold down if you need them to for hard to fit items. And on top of all this, the most important thing--my dishes come out clean. :)

The KitchenAid Superba Dishwasher does a very good job!

When it was time to replace my dishwasher I did a lot of research before deciding on a brand. The KitchenAid brand got a lot of very good reviews. Unfortunately, it did not have one of the features that I really wanted: a third rack for cutlery. After getting an LG brand with the 3rd rack and later returning it due to poor performance, I decided to go ahead and get the KitchenAid one. Not only was it about half the price of the LG, it is a far superior dishwasher! i was pleasantly surprised. My dishes get very clean and I don't even have to really rinse them before putting them in. I love that it has a wide variety of settings and options to choose from. It is easy to load and holds a lot of dishes. The cutlery holder is nice. The slotted holders separate the utensils so that they get really clean. The only thing that could be improved on would be the quietness. I used to have a Miele, and it was so quiet you never even knew it was on. Don't get me wrong....the KitchenAid is still a very quiet machine....its just not as quiet as I was used to. I highly recommend this machine.
